play Cynthia and Linda, respectively;
Kim Delaney (Jenny), Marcy Walker
(Liza), Richard Van Vleet (Chuck) and
Taylor Miller (Nina) exited.... Greg and
Jenny wed on Valentine’s Day, but she
was soon killed in a Jet Ski explosion
orchestrated by her ex, Tony; Erica
tied the knot with Adam, then had
an invalid ceremony with Mike while
Adam was presumed dead; Tad married pregnant Dottie (she miscarried);
Palmer remarried Nina’s mom, Daisy, while Nina and Cliff said, “I do” for the
third time.... Palmer was revealed to be Pigeon Hollow, WV native Pete Cooney.... Tom
and Brooke had a baby girl, Laura, but divorced.

joined ANOTHER WORLD, while

concealed that Marley was her

AS THE WORLD TURNS hired Elizabeth

as Betsy, but not before the character

performed.... Lisa’s hubby, Whit, was
murdered..... Robert Calhoun succeeded
Mary-Ellis Bunim as EP, while Tom King
and Millee Taggart took over the headwriting
reins from John Saffron, only
to be replaced by Cynthia Benjamin

Bryggman (John) won the Daytime

CAPITOL enlisted Jess Walton (now Jill,
YOUNG AND RESTLESS) to play Kelly and

Bo), Lead Actress (Deidre Hall, Marlena), Exciting Female Newcomer (Kristian
Alfonso, Hope) and a host of other categories.
EDGE OF NIGHT, which
debuted on CBS on April
2, 1956 and moved to
ABC in 1974, was canceled;
it last aired on
December 28.
Genie Francis and Anthony Geary popped into
GH for a Luke/Laura visit, and notable newbies
included Jack Wagner (Frisco), Kristina Wagner
(Felicia), Brad Maule (Tony) and Hilary Edson
(Tania), while Denise Alexander (Lesley) and
John Stamos (Blackie) checked out.... A car
crash (seemingly) claimed Lesley’s life; her
widower, Rick, wed Ginny.... Frisco and Felicia
fell in love while searching for her heirloom
Aztec treasure.... Ruby took over at Kelly’s
Diner.... Bobbie had a hysterectomy and was
battered by her husband, D.L. ... Blackie went
to jail for Lou’s murder.... Grant Putnam framed
his look-alike, Grant Andrews, for Celia’s
attempted murder.... The show won the Emmy
for Outstanding Daytime Drama.
GUIDING LIGHT welcomed Beverlee

was presumed dead in an explosion;
Hillary was murdered by Susan Piper
via an exploding music box (Susan
