Being caught between two leading ladies — namely, Melissa Reeves (Jennifer) and Kassie DePaiva (Eve) — has been absolute nirvana for Matthew Ashford (Jack, DAYS). “Missy has kind of graduated to senior level/carrying storyline person [on the show],” points out Ashford. “I realized that when she was doing the drug addiction story. It was very heavy. She was serious ... not playing around. She’s a great actress. And Kassie is amazing, too. She’s had to do some really intense stuff that was not light for air at all.” As the guy who works with both of them, Ashford has been “soaking it all up.” That is, when he’s not marveling over the relationship between the two actresses. “Missy and Kassie love each other as friends, but when they get on camera together it’s like oil and water,” notes Ashford. “It’s amazing. All I have to do is walk in between them. It’s just so full and there’s so much going on, that you don’t have to dig at all. Kassie’s ready to play, Missy’s ready to play, and the scene can go any number of ways.”

STATION 19’s Jason George will never turn his back on his soap roots. George, who got his big break on SUNSET BEACH playing lifeguard Michael, is still in touch with many of his old pals. “Sherri [Saum, ex-Vanessa] and I talk a lot,” he smiles. “She just booked a show for Netflix called LOCKE & KEY. In fact, the SUNSET BEACH crew got together just a few weeks ago. We get together once or twice a year, a whole group of us. Priscilla Garita [ex-Gabi et al] was there. We had some of the producers; it was a whole bunch of us. I spoke to Sherri when she went in for that show, and she felt good about it. She loved the concept. I’ve been blessed in that probably 90 percent of the shows I’ve worked on, I had the most professional people there — none of the crazy Hollywood stories. Everybody pays attention to the train-wreck stories, but most people I meet are good, professional people. I’ve been fortunate to be on a couple of sets where it’s like, ‘Y’all are my peeps. Period.’ And SUNSET BEACH was one of them.”

Y&R’s Lauralee Bell (Christine, Y&R) admits that shooting courtroom scenes and remembering legalese as Christine is challenging, but she found a whole different set of hurdles when she portrayed a doctor in the Lifetime Movie Network thriller, NIGHTMARE TENANT. “It was crazy to wear a stethoscope a lot because you have to make sure that for match shots you’re listening to the heart on certain sides,” chuckles the actress. “Also, I didn’t realize how white your teeth need to be because you’re wearing the white coat. You can definitely tell the difference.” Bell was surprised when she also encountered the same stumbling block on the set of her movie as she had on Y&R. “The thing that made me laugh, and it’s like what happens in the courtroom, is when they asked, ‘Can you ad-lib some medical stuff because we’re going to do this montage?’ ” she recalls. “I’m like, ‘I can say, “Please come in for a checkup,” ’ and that’s about it. I just can’t pull out accurate medical talk at the drop of a hat because I’m not really a doctor. The only medical information that I took with me was about the carpal bones in our hands, which give our wrists a full range of movement. I was very happy to learn that fact.”

William Lipton (Cameron) feels that he hit the jackpot with his TV family. “Becky [Herbst, Elizabeth] is so amazing,” he raves of his on-screen mom. “I always look forward to doing scenes with her. She’s so knowledgeable, and whenever we run lines backstage, she fills me in on stuff that happened in previous years on the show and gives me advice. It’s such a pleasure being able to work with her.” And while Cam has conflicted feelings about stepdad Franco, Lipton is a fan of his portrayer, Roger Howarth. “Roger is so funny on set. We just click and we joke. He’s so witty and I just love the choices he makes with Franco. He makes me laugh in certain scenes where I never would have expected that I would have laughed. He’s just so awesome.” The actor is also fond of on-screen siblings Jason David (Aiden) and Hudson West (Jake). “Jason and Hudson are so sweet,” he praises. “I have so much fun with them in the classroom and backstage. They are just the coolest little kids I’ve ever met.”
