RAVE ON
DAYS’s Deidre Hall (Marlena/Hattie) couldn’t be more thrilled about her current tale. “It’s too much fun!” she enthuses. “I love it more than anything. I’m mad for Hattie. I love playing her.” Another bonus? “I get to lie in bed,” she muses. “It’s the best part of the day. I don’t have any dialogue. People just kind of emote around me. It’s wonderful! One of my favorite things to do on the show is be in a coma.” Hall is also happy to have welcomed back Martha Madison (Belle) and Alison Sweeney (Sami) for the story. “I love them both so much!” she raves. “And of course, they both are not always here. I adore Ali and I’m mad for Martha. I think the two of them always up the stakes; they always up the game we’re playing, and the audience loves seeing them on the show. We miss them both when we don’t see them.” The actress reports that she has discussed her show with Hattie’s original portrayer, her twin sister, Andrea (ex-Samantha). “My sister and I were talking the other day and she said, ‘You know what Ron [Carlivati, head writer] does? He weaves in all the storylines so it isn’t just John and Marlena, it’s John and Marlena and Sami and this one and that one. Everybody has their own point of view and their own objective in scenes so they become really, really complex.’ It’s good. It’s historical and he’s using all the people that we’ve known for so many years.”

FRIENDS FOREVER
Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie, GH) was once romantically linked to the late Robin Leach, who remained an important part of her life until his death in August. “Robin is a love of my life,” she declares. “I have loved that man for decades. Even though we were no longer together romantically, and hadn’t been for a very long time, the friendship and the intimacy remained very, very close. I would spend every birthday with him, every year, and this year, he passed just a few days before his birthday. While he was recuperating from the stroke he had last year, I would go to Las Vegas to visit him. So, we continued to stay in touch and now I just feel that he is in a better place. You have to look at it that way. He had a great life, a happy life. Oh, my gosh, talk about excitement and adventure — Robin Leach has done it all! And he was so loved and appreciated by so many people. You couldn’t ask for a better quality of life than the one he had. So I console myself with that and celebrate that.”

DEAR JANE
B&B’s Joe Lando (Craig) is still pals with his DR. QUINN, MEDICINE WOMAN co-star Jane Seymour, even though there were a few bumps in the road during the early years of their friendship. “We’re closer now than ever,” Lando beams. “We actually dated in the beginning, when we were doing the pilot [in 1992], and that sometimes can make for either a good run afterward or a bad run. Then we broke up, so it affected us at work sometimes. But then we went off and got married to two different people, and over the years, we mellowed and we realized how much that show meant to us, and how one couldn’t have done it without the other. It was perfect timing, for the show and for us. Now, she’s one of my best friends. In fact, we just had lunch last week in Malibu. My whole family often goes over to her house. She’s got a nice spread right on the bluffs in Malibu. My daughter [Kate, 15] has had a couple of birthday parties at her house. Jane is a very sharing, wonderful person to be around. We’re very lucky to have each other in our lives.”

LET’S GET READY
TO STUMBLE
There’s no doubt about it, Jason Canela (Arturo, Y&R) is a klutz. “I’m so clumsy,” shares the actor. “The other day at the gas station, I got out of the car and I stubbed my toe on the curb. It was my right foot and I started doing that weird, holding-the-leg type of hopping thing and my friends are in the car, laughing at me. I’m not gonna lie, I saw stars. So, I walked into the gas station, paid for my gas and when I walked out, I hit the same freaking curb with my other foot! I couldn’t believe I was that much of a fool.” Luckily, Canela has found a kindred spirit in co-star Melissa Ordway (Abby). “Melissa’s awesome!” he declares. “Her energy is great and she’s freaking hilarious. There’s really never a dull moment on set when I’m working with her and best of all, she’s tripped in front of me a few times. That sure makes me feel a whole lot better. I love it because we just laugh about it together because we both know what it’s like to be clumsy.”
