WORKING DYNAMIC
Lucas Adams (Tripp) has had a good time sharing scenes with Robert Scott Wilson (Ben) on DAYS. “It’s been so much fun,” raves the actor. “He adds a whole other dynamic to our scenes and a different energy, and he’s obviously fantastic. Tripp really has to grow up quickly with Ben around.” One co-star who he misses having at the set is on-screen dad Stephen Nichols (ex-Steve). “He gave me advice every day,” relays Adams. “It wasn’t just when he left. When he was here he was always giving me some kind of advice while we were working together. He would always say, ‘Do your work and have fun with everybody around you.’ We would just chitchat all the time, whenever we were together. We would run lines and then we’d chitchat for the longest time and have good conversations. That’s one of the things I mainly miss.” Mary Beth Evans (Kayla) has picked up the slack, Adams adds. “We actually filmed some scenes recently and we just sat in her dressing room for a while and had some good conversation while we were in there. We talked about that for a bit, too, saying how nice it is that we can at least talk now. It’s still kind of an odd feeling [not having Stephen here].”

THE SECOND TIME AROUND
B&B’s Annika Noelle says she was thrilled to see Hope and Liam actually tie the knot. “It was so nice to play Hope happy at last, especially after the most recent time they tried to get married and it fell through. This was the perfect day.” Even though the bride and groom had no wedding cake to cut? “Especially because of that,” Noelle laughs. “Obviously, the highlight of the day was the cake fight. It was so much fun watching [Katherine Kelly Lang, Brooke, and Hunter Tylo, Taylor] film that, and they were such pros, having to wear all that cake on their faces for an hour or two after the actual fight happened for the follow-up scenes. Watching it was great fun, and I also realized there was a lot we shot the day of that they didn’t have time to use in the episodes themselves. So, it was interesting to see which ones they picked and which ones didn’t make it. It was a long day but a really fun day, and the fans really seemed to like it, so that’s what counts!”

THE START OF A BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP
While Scott and Bensch lost the case that Kiki filed against her one-time mentor on GH, the fellas’ portrayers, Kin Shriner and James DePaiva, went home with a win in the form of their blossoming friendship. “The best thing about having Kin Shriner as my lawyer is that we spent the whole time laughing our asses off,” DePaiva reports. “We just had a great time sharing old dinosaur stories about soap operas back in the day.” Enthuses Shriner, “I sat down next to him for five straight days in that courtroom and I had more fun than I’ve had in a long time. We went over all of the stories from the ’80s, what was going on on GENERAL HOSPITAL versus ONE LIFE TO LIVE [where DePaiva played Max], which was basically all the same stuff. He’s a very funny, interesting guy. He’s like my new friend. We exchanged numbers and I’m looking forward to hanging with him when he comes back. He’s a good guy. I didn’t know him before! I had met him, but I didn’t know that he’s my kind of guy. He rides motorcycles, he’s got a lot of similar hobbies. And he’s fun to act with, too, because he’s really good.” Their camaraderie helped Shriner get through some long days. “I do enjoy the courtroom scenes; however, they are a lot of work and you actually have to do a good amount of homework at night, especially when so much happens in a day. And I’m not used to that! I like to have fun and make it up with Roger [Howarth, Franco] and with Maura [West, Ava]. You can’t do that with courtroom stuff!”

CAUTIONARY TALE
Beth Maitland (Traci, Y&R) reports that fans still find it hard to believe that she and former on-screen rival Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren) have been the best of friends for well over three decades. Even though their characters have resolved their differences, Maitland remembers when one soap watcher didn’t buy the detente. “Tracey and I used to be neighbors, and we had a favorite restaurant we frequented together a couple of times a week,” the actress explains. “One day I stepped into the ladies’ room between courses and a woman followed me in, then she approached me with great concern and said, ‘Listen, I just want you to know, that woman you’re with is not your friend. She’s going to hurt you again. She’s evil!’ I just stood there for a minute, not knowing what to say because I wasn’t sure if she was serious or even if she knew where she recognized us from. It was so odd and funny but uncomfortable.” Maitland took a gentle approach in dealing with her protector. “I eventually said, ‘Um, thank you, but you know it’s just a TV show,’ ” she recounts. “The woman looked stunned and left. Tracey and I laughed about it, but I still don’t know if the woman realized we didn’t know her and she was reacting to a storyline. Such is the power of soaps [chuckles].”
