Ryan Carnes (Lucas) admits that it took him a moment to find his on-set rhythm with Parry Shen (Brad), who plays his Port Charles husband, after a year-long draught of “Brucas” scenes. “It is absolutely great to be working together again, but we hadn’t worked together in a really long time,” Carnes notes. “I think it had been, like, a year! In a way, it was like going through a breakup and then seeing that person again. It can be really awkward, a little fumbly, where you don’t know what to do, what to say, how to look at them, how to touch them, whether to touch them. When Parry and I went back to set, even though we hadn’t broken up, I can say that from my standpoint, it was a little bit like, ‘Oh, right. We’re married.’ All the behaviors that go along with that, it had been a long time and I sort of had to remind myself, ‘Okay, this is how we are together, this is what we do.’ Parry and I actually saw each other for a quick rehearsal and then we were standing on set about to film and we looked at each other and he went, ‘Well, this is interesting. Haven’t done this for a while, huh?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, man, it seems like it’s been forever!’ Hopefully, it looked and felt like it hadn’t been a year since we’d seen each other [laughs]! And it’s great to be back and on the canvas again with Parry.”

Camila Banus (Gabi, DAYS) is loving her character’s turn to the dark side. “Oh, it’s so fun!” she enthuses. “I haven’t complained one day when I’m on set. I love my scenes, I love that she’s pushing it really, really far, and I don’t mind that. People forget: We are a drama! This is a dramatic situation show and if there’s no drama, there’s no show!” It doesn’t surprise the actress that Gabi has this side to her. “I think Gabi’s always had elements, and she’s definitely had great teachers. I think the storyline that involved Blake Berris when he played Nick, where I got to work with Lauren Koslow [Kate] and Alison Sweeney [Sami], was a really eye-opening situation for the character of Gabi. She was able to see these two very strong women, Sami and Kate, both from very different families, do something kind of bad and help her out, and she learned a lot about how they protected each other, covered for each other, and lied. They essentially have been kind of gurus for Gabi.”

As B&B’s Kimberlin Brown’s (Sheila) run for Congress intensifies, the actress shares that she has found support from family, friends and fans alike. She hopes her kids, Alexes, 24, and Nicholas, 20, are proud of her efforts. “I want them to know that individuals can make a difference, that their mom and dad [Gary Pelzer] have given them something to look forward to, look up to and achieve,” she comments. Brown reports that she has received a lot of positive fan response from B&B viewers. “I can’t lie. With the divisiveness in our country right now, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but when I run into people, no matter what their affiliation, they’ll come up to me and whisper in my ear, saying, ‘We’re so proud of you for what you’re doing,’ and they tell me that they feel that they finally have somebody who has their voice. Washington needs more people who aren’t career politicians and if I can be a part of that movement, I’ll be very happy — and maybe we can get some things done!”

Sharon Case (Sharon, Y&R) has had a ball playing out the J.T. tale. “This is my favorite story I’ve had in a long while,” she enthuses. “And working with these actresses has been so great. It’s never really happened where I get to work with Amelia [Heinle, Victoria] very much. I work on and off with Mel [Thomas Scott, Nikki], and Gina [Tognoni, Phyllis] and I work together now and then, but it’s been years since Sharon and Phyllis have had a big story together. It’s been amazing to have a bunch of female co-stars together for something other than a love story or a baby story. We’re all having fun because it’s a different vibe and energy to do a story with women. I always wanted to do something like that.” Case likens the dynamic to one of her favorite shows. “I used to watch SEX AND THE CITY and loved how it was about a group of women living life,” she adds. “I always liked that idea of this girl power thing, so being in this story and playing it has been a wonderful experience. Sharon wouldn’t get to be in so many scenes with Victoria and Phyllis unless she was working at Newman Enterprises, but this story came along and made it happen.”
