BALL BEARINGS
As Nurses’ Ball season gets underway on GH, Lynn Herring (Lucy) is excited for the chance to mix and mingle with her castmates behind the scenes during taping. “Last year, the directors let me sit at a table for a couple of numbers, which was really fun. I sat with Vinessa [Antoine, Jordan] and Donnell [Turner, Curtis] and I just loved chatting with them and getting to know them better because our stories never cross. Billy [Miller, Drew] and Kelly [Monaco, Sam] were kind of seated toward the back of the set and as I would walk by, we’d make asides and fun little comments. I’d never really talked to Billy before and he was a hoot. We had a lot of fun just making small talk about life and the ranch [where Herring lives]. And little Jake, Hudson West, he gave me a recipe for Oreo truffles! He was determined that I learn how to cook them. I said, ‘Okay!’ and he printed out the recipe and gave it to me [laughs]. That’s the kind of thing we don’t usually have time for until the Nurses’ Ball and it’s so much fun.”

BROTHERLY LOVE
Shawn Christian (ex-Daniel, DAYS) is back on the small screen as Alan Mills for season 2 of FAMOUS IN LOVE. “I’m really hoping people will join us for the journey,” he enthuses. “We’ve got a lot of great new people coming on. I can’t even tell you their names because they’re going to be great reveals throughout the season, so it’s going to be terrific. We’re all very much looking forward to it.” He’s having a ball on the show, especially because of the locale in which it films. “Every time I go on the Warner Bros. lot, there’s a sense of awe and deep gratitude for the history of filmmaking, and the fact that I’m there,” he notes. “I say a little blessing, a little prayer, when I arrive and when I leave.” He’s also run into some familiar faces. “I saw Chris Pine on the lot. We had worked on a film together years ago, and some of the other actors and directors I’ve seen in the lunchroom. A friend of mine is producing Aquaman and he’s running around the lot. By being there, I had access to some of the little secret enclaves. I was like, ‘Wait a minute. I can go see the Batmobile, the Batsuit, the Superman suit, the Wonder Woman suit, the whole Harry Potter thing and the FRIENDS couch?’ So, I’ve taken friends and people on that little tour, which is amazing. I’ve been blessed.”

NEW ON THE BEAT
B&B’s Jeremy Ray Valdez (Detective Alex Sanchez) has been a working actor for nearly 20 years, but he had a strong case of first-day jitters when he showed up to work at CBS Television City. “Once you’re inside, it’s a bit of a maze,” he explains. “We shoot across the hall from YOUNG AND RESTLESS, and right next door is THE PRICE IS RIGHT. There are 100 different dressing rooms. I felt like the kid who has just transferred to a new high school in his senior year. I told Ed [Scott, supervising producer], ‘I’m pretty nervous,’ and he said, ‘Yeah, you should be. It wouldn’t make sense if you weren’t.’ But it helped when Aaron Spears [Justin] called my dressing room — I was even like, ‘Um, should I pick that up?’ — and he asked me if I wanted to come to his room to run lines and chat it up. So, I boogied down the hall and met with him, and he gave me some good first-day advice. So, those first-day jitters were there but they were definitely eased by that conversation with Aaron, because all I kept thinking prior to that was, ‘Don’t mess this up, Jeremy! Don’t mess this up!’ ”

BABY ON BOARD
Since Mishael Mor-gan (Hilary, Y&R) was very pregnant when her character married Devon in 2015, the actress carried a rather large bridal bouquet to hide her baby bump. Now, she would like a do-over. “I just really want to have another soap wedding with the body I have,” she says. “It was crazy how big I got when I was pregnant. Even though I’m pretty small-framed, I ended up getting gestational diabetes, so you’re prone to having larger babies. I’m not sure if my mom had gestational diabetes because she was never diagnosed, but I was a 10-pound baby and my little sister, she was 9 ½ pounds, so she most likely had it, too. My family just has big babies. So, when Devon and Hilary got married, I was huge. And the flowers I held in front of my tummy became so heavy.” Morgan admits that she has a lingering fear should there be more soap nups in her future. “I swear, it’s like they’re waiting for me to get pregnant again,” she jokes. “And if Hilary is pregnant for her next wedding I’m going to be very upset! I want to be skinny and carry a smaller bouquet.”
