Ready, Set, Wait!
When life gets back to normal after the coro- navirus outbreak, Eileen Davidson (Ashley, Y&R; ex-Kristen, DAYS) is looking forward to a new film project. “Blake Berris [ex-Nick, DAYS] asked me to be in his movie, Fangirl,” she shares. “There’s a really terrific cast and it’s very well written. It’s about a fan who travels to a soap convention to meet her soap idol, who Blake will play. I play a soap opera actress who’s a little jaded and likes to put other actors in their place. She basically calls out people on their b.s. It’s not a huge part but it’s going to be a fun project and I really like it a lot. Everything was put on hold because of the pandemic, but we are having a table reading by Zoom soon, which I’m really looking forward to. We’re hop- ing to pull it together but that’s going to be tricky because a lot of the movie takes place during a convention, so it’ll be interesting to see how that works out.”
Adrenaline Junkie
While being kidnapped by Cyrus’s goons was a traumatizing event for GH's Cameron, his portrayer, William Lipton, had an absolute blast filming those episodes. "They were just so fun!" he declares. "Not only was I working with talented actors and actresses such as Donell [Turner, Curtis] and Sydney Mikayla [Trina] and Real [Andrews, ex-Taggert] and all those fantastic stunt people, it was filled with gunfire and action and just felt so exciting. When I worked with Steve Burton [Jason] on the part where Cameron was about to die, even though it seemed pretty scary, it was one of my favorite scenes to film in the two years I've been working at GH." Lipton notes that he prepared differently than he does when playing Cam in a less stressful scenario. "You have to remember you're not stepping into the situation as Cam. So how's Cam feeling? Cam's probably feeling very scared for himself and his friends. I really have to forget that I'm William and put myself in that situation, and when you do, the feelings start coming in naturally."
The Long Run
Bryan R. Dattilo (Lucas) never envi- sioned playing a daytime grandfather way back on April Fool’s Day 1993, when he first debuted on DAYS as a West Point cadet. “I didn’t see it [coming], but Patrick Muldoon [ex-Austin] saw it,” admits Dattilo. “He and Christie Clark [ex-Carrie] used to say, ‘Dude, you know you’re going to be playing Lucas your whole life.’ And I would be like, ‘No, no. Don’t say that. I’m going to have this huge career. I’m going to be a 5-foot-71⁄2-inch action star. What are you talking about?’ Pat Muldoon was right. It might be the only time in his life he has ever been right, but now I get it. I should be Lucas forever, and I like it.” Dattilo reveals that his favorite character upon joining DAYS was the show’s resident super-dad/super-grandpa. “Tom Horton. Macdonald Carey was the big man,” notes Dattilo. “If I could become him someday ... I could hang my career on that, because that guy was just class personified.” A big turning point for Dattilo was the day his character was revealed to be a member of the Horton clan. “As long as I have the Horton name I’m good,” smiles Dattilo. “My grand- mother, who passed away last year, loved the Hortons. She loved Alice Horton and her values. She came from that time period. When I became a Horton on the show, that was the best thing for her. She got to see that happen, which was cool for me.”
Keep Your Distance
Social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic was not a challenge for B&B’s Thorsten Kaye (Ridge). A Connecticut resident who travels cross-country for his job, Kaye appreciated the quality time he got to spend with wife Susan Haskell (ex-Marty, ONE LIFE TO LIVE), and their daughters, McKenna and Marlowe. "Listen, the pool was open. I got to work on cars. The kids had their schoolwork. We took the boat out. We're barbecuing. We played board games together. This was great," he shrugs. "I don't talk to anyone anyway, so social distancing is really not that different for me. I've been doing it for at least the last 35 years!"
