“I remember exactly what I wore — a pink silky dress with a giant sailor-like collar with lace. It was very Sandra Dee. Then I met Stephen [Nichols, Steve]. He came in to read with me. He was wearing the leather jacket, the scar, the patch. After the screen test, he always says that I said, ‘Well, that was crap.’ And he said, ‘No, it was good.’ ”

“What I remember
is that quote about
success being
when preparation
and opportunity
meet. I was firing on
all cylinders when it
counted. People can
talk about luck in a
moment, but I think of it
more in terms of respect
for the profession. Luck
isn’t going to get you through
the long days of a heavy storyline,
working hard and executing is. The
audition was the first step in proving that.”

“My youngest daughter,
Everly, was getting baptized
that day and they had to reschedule
the audition so that I could come in
earlier. I believe God’s handiwork was
involved so I felt very centered and inspired with the whole process.”

“Well, I vividly remember my outfit because they said, ‘Miley Cyrus,’ and so I said, ‘Screw it,’ for lack of better words, and went balls to the wall with my outfit. It was full-on. During the testing session, I also remember working with Pierson [Fodé, ex-Thomas] in the run-through and realizing that I really liked his character and I liked the interaction of what was potentially there for her.”
Mark Grossman (Adam, Y&R)
“I remember it vividly. It was quite a lengthy process; audition, network test and then a screen test with three different actors from the show. It was a very nerve-wracking experience, but I managed to stay somewhat composed through the whole process — I think.”
James Reynolds (Abe, DAYS)
“I just experienced a canceled nighttime show on CBS [TIME EXPRESS] when my agent told me about the DAYS role. I was told they didn’t want to see me; the role was taken. However, as a favor to my agent they saw me. I met with [then-Casting Director] Bob Edmiston. The next day, I was asked to meet the producers, writers and network. Over 10 people in a little 10-by-10 office. Whatever I did in those auditions got them to change their minds and suddenly the role was opened again and offered to me. When I got home that Friday, I had a stack of six scripts and a work call for the following Monday. I wondered what had I gotten myself into.”
Marcus Coloma (Nikolas, GH)
“Everyone [testing] was super-handsome
and I’d seen them on different shows and it was intimidating. I remember Frank [Valentini, executive producer] was just like, ‘Good job.’ There was something about the way he said it where I believed it and that, to me, was such an accomplishment in and of itself.”
