“For me, that’s a no-brainer: His name is Alan Langdon and he was my teacher at Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York. He really taught me everything I know about preparation and analyzing text. I owe a lot of my career to him.”

“Mr. Tom Payne was my drama teacher in 7th grade. I was very fortunate because when I went to high school he was then the drama teacher there. Under his expert direction, I played the roles of Emily in Our Town and Anne in Anne Frank, to name a few. He taught me to work hard and never give up.”

“It was my 5th grade teacher, her name
was Mrs. Johnson
and her husband was in the Navy and I thought that was
really cool. She was the biggest impact on my life because she really pushed me and she always made sure I did my absolute best. That made me want to do my best in everything I do in life.”

“Tom Williams. I didn’t even have to think about that one. He was like a dad to me. He was my English teacher in high school and we were friends until he died just a couple of years ago. He gave me my copy of Walden and when I read it and wanted to live in the woods for awhile, he gave me his tent. He was the most cool guy.”

“I have an incredible acting coach, Iris Klein, and she is amazing. I have never been able to connect with a teacher or mentor the way that I have been able to connect with her. I’m very grateful I had the opportunity to cross paths with her, because she definitely changed a lot of things for me. She’s a great teacher, a great mentor and has helped me a lot.”

“I would say the vice principal when I was in 10th grade because he told me I’d never be anything. It made me want to work. He was just one of those people that made you buckle down and work as hard as you possibly could. I skipped a lot of school, so maybe that’s why I can’t remember any teachers. I was a bit of a s**thead,
as well.”

“I would definitely say my drama teacher, Mrs. Donovan. High school was great, but it could also be bad at times, like when I was being bullied. She was really there for me. She understood me, even when I didn’t understand myself.”

“In my freshman year of high school, my English teacher was amazing. She had us do all of these great journaling exercises and it was a really great outlet for me to express myself and to be aware of the things that were going on in my head. That was such a great tool for me and I thank her for that. I also had a math and science tutor who was really great. I have ADD, so it’s very difficult for me to focus, She would find all of these really creative ways to keep me engaged. Hats off to her for being able to keep me focused!”
