Camila Banus (Gabi, DAYS)
“The saving J.J. from suicide [story] on Christmas Eve. That was definitely a personal storyline for me. I suffered a suicide in my family about seven years ago. My father passed away from suicide, and it was definitely something I wasn’t able to talk about for a really long time, but with the help of therapy and family and so many different things, I’ve been able to talk about it. When they first approached me with the storyline, I don’t think they knew. It was just really interesting for me to kind of venture into this storyline that would open up a lot of emotions for me, and essentially it was really, really rewarding for me. I learned a lot about myself. My character was able to help somebody, so it was really great.”
Hayley Erin (Kiki, GH)
“I’ve never
experienced
anything inappropriate from a boss or a co-worker, but I have had the experience of someone in my life crossing a line. That realization that you were wrong about someone and feeling taken advantage of is horrific. In that respect, as a young woman, [Kiki’s experience with Dr. Bensch] is definitely relatable to me.”
Joshua Morrow (Nick, Y&R)
“When I was in
college, I told my
dad I was quitting
the basketball team
to try and become an
actor, and he was not happy with that. He
knew sports was my
life, so he thought that’s what I should be doing. That’s similar to what
Victor does to Nick all of the time. Victor doesn’t want Nick to chase his dreams but stick to the corporate life instead.
My dad was eventually much more understanding about what I wanted to pursue, but at first
he was like, ‘I didn’t send you out to Oklahoma to
become an actor.
You’re an athlete!’ ”

Thorsten Kaye
(Ridge, B&B)
“Back when Ridge thought a piece of string was a suitable engagement ring, he shared a lot of poetry with Katie, and anyone who knows me knows how much I love words, so I thought it was pretty cool that that made it into the storyline.”

Sal Stowers (Lani, DAYS)
“That’s a hard one because I’ve never lost a child, so the only thing I can connect with to this past storyline is another horrible thing. We filmed that episode of Lani losing the baby in mid-December, and then my grandmother passed away three or four days after that. So even though I didn’t know how to grieve before I was filming the losing the baby episodes, a week later, I definitely knew because I lost a really important woman in my life. I had a deeper level of grief because I had just experienced that, so I brought that to the story.”

Courtney Hope (Sally, B&B)
“It may sound silly because Pierson [Fodé, Thomas] and I got to be such good friends, but when Sally and Thomas broke up, and I knew he was leaving the show, it really felt like he was leaving, which of course, he was. When we said good-bye on the beach in Monaco, that was one of the hardest scenes I’d done on the show. We knew it was over. Both of us were crying, as the characters and as ourselves. Sally was losing her best friend, and I was losing my best friend on the show. It was very impactful.”
