Gilles Marini (Ted, DAYS), with wife Carole
“Oh, my God! Do, you have a seatbelt on? She was 19 years old, I was probably 20 or 21 maybe, and I was on the beach. We met 15 days prior and I’m with my sister and Carole, my wife now, calls me out of the blue and says, ‘I’m pregnant,’ and the only feeling I had at 20 years old was pure bliss. I knew that would be a great thing. It was 1998, the World Cup was just won by France, I am from France, everybody was happy and having a good time, and boom! My son is not the only one that is a product of the 1998 World Cup final; there’s a lot of kids that were born in March because of that! And then, I believe a month or so later, she gathered up balloons of pink, blue and white, and I had to pop the balloons and only one would be left, and the color would be a boy or a girl. There were balloons everywhere in the apartment. And the next thing you know, there was only one balloon left — it was blue! I was dying to have a son because I had just lost my dad two years prior. She told me it’s a boy and I said, ‘His name will be George.’ And she looked at me and said, ‘George,’ and I said, ‘Yes, my father’s name,’ and she’s like, ‘Yeah, perfect,’ and that was it! I lucked out. At the end of the day, my life is absolutely guided and lifted and helped and loved because of my wife.”

“It was pretty simple, really. Susan just looked at me and said, ‘We’re going to need a bigger place.’ And so, we got one.”

John McCook (Eric, B&B), with wife Laurette Spang
“Laurette and I had done an episode of MAGNUM P.I. together but before that, I’d done one by myself, so I was in Hawaii and when Laurette found out she was pregnant with Becky, she called me, but I was on the beach with Larry Manetti and a couple of the other guys on the show. So, I found out that way. The first time I found out [with son Jake], I came home and she was just so excited that I knew instantly, before she could even say anything. Finding out about Molly was a special one, too. We’ve got such wonderful kids.”

Galen Gering (Rafe, DAYS), with wife Jenna
“When Jenna first decided it was time to start trying, it didn’t happen right away. So after four months of nothing happening, Jen went to a fertility doctor who specialized in Eastern medicine. He gave her a tea to brew. This tea smelled awful. It stank so bad it had to be brewed outside the house. Luckily, it only took one batch. Oddly, neither one of us can remember the moment when we discovered she was pregnant [with Dillon]. I think we both blacked out from the excitement. I do, however, remember finding out about the second pregnancy. Jensen was what many would call a surprise. The day I found out, Jen led me into the living room which, despite being the nicest room in the house, was the room we never went into. I could tell she was nervous because once we sat down, she just looked at me for at least a minute without blinking or saying anything. It was weird, like telepathy, somehow I knew she was going to say she was pregnant.”
