Laura Webber and Scotty Baldwin: In 1977, 16-year-old Laura fell for law student Scotty, who was clerking at the hospital. Lesley disapproved of her daughter taking up with the more experienced Scotty, so Laura went behind her back to obtain a prescription for birth control from Monica. In 1978, Laura and Scotty split, but when she fled to New York after accidentally killing David Hamilton, Scotty and his pal Bryan came to her rescue, and they reconciled. Enter Bobbie Spencer, who wanted Scotty for her- self and worked to tear the young duo apart, even enlisting the help of her older brother, Luke, and faking a pregnancy. In 1979, Scotty and Laura got engaged, but citing her young age, Laura’s adoptive father, Rick, refused to give his assent. When she nearly died in a car crash after Bobbie arranged for Laura to see her and Scotty in a com- promising position, Rick relented, and in July, Laura and Scotty said, “I do.” Laura then took a job at the Campus Disco, working with Luke, and her pull to Luke ultimately doomed the Baldwins’ marriage. They divorced in 1981, and their 2013 remarriage didn’t last the year.
Stone Cates and Robin Scorpio: Robin was just shy of 16 when she first crossed paths with Stone in 1993, and it was not love at first sight. But early in 1994, the pair started to get to know each other better — much to the chagrin of her protective guardian, Mac, who took an instant dislike to Robin’s more experienced suitor. Robin coaxed Stone into performing a scene from Romeo and Juliet at the Nurses’ Ball, sure it would win Mac over; it did not. In 1995, Robin lost her virginity to Stone, and soon, they stopped using protection. Tragically, Stone was then diagnosed with HIV. Mac blew a gasket, but as Stone’s illness progressed, he softened toward the brave young man that had captured his niece’s heart. Robin and Stone made the most of the time they had left, and when Robin tested HIV-positive, she made the noble decision to tell Stone the truth, rather than him die with secrets between them. AIDS robbed Stone of his eye-sight, but his vision returned long enough for him to see his beloved one last time before he succumbed to the disease in November.
Lucky Spencer and Elizabeth Webber: When they met in 1997, high-schooler Lucky wasn’t interested in teen newcomer Liz; he had eyes for her sister, Sarah, much to Liz’s chagrin. But in 1998, Liz’s world was shattered when she was raped on her way home from a dance, and Lucky was a steady source of emotional support. Likewise, Liz was there for Lucky when he discovered that his father, Luke, had raped his mother, Laura. They shared a sweet first kiss after Lucky serenaded Liz with a song he’d written for her. The following Valentine’s Day, the lovebirds exchanged vows in a symbolic wedding in an empty church, but their happiness was tragically cut short when Lucky was presumed dead in a fire. Liz was overjoyed when he resurfaced in 2000, but he had been brainwashed by Helena. They got properly engaged, but Liz called off the nups, knowing that Lucky didn’t truly recall his love for her. They broke things off officially when he bedded a back-in-town Sarah in 2001. They found their way back to each other and married twice (in 2005 and 2007), but both unions ended in divorce; and they share a son, Aiden, who was born in 2010.
Georgie Jones and Dillon Quartermaine: In 2003, Georgie fibbed to Maxie and Lucas that she had a boyfriend she’d met online, and to avoid her lie being exposed, she laid a kiss on a stranger — who turned out to be Dillon. In time, a genuine romance blossomed, and they faced various obstacles, from the disapproval of her uncle (Mac) and his mother (Tracy) to dangerous situations stemming from Dillon’s association with mobsters. In 2005, Dillon graduated from high school and he and Georgie became lovers. Then, in 2006, when Dillon was on his deathbed with encephalitis, the pair convinced their families to let them marry despite being underage. He recovered, but when Lulu tricked Dillon into believing that Georgie was cheating on him with Diego, he bedded Lulu, sending Georgie into Diego’s arms for real. Georgie and Dillon divorced, but ironed out their misunderstanding and began seeing each other again. The reconciliation fizzled and Dillon left town in 2007. Shortly there-after, Georgie was murdered.
