Y&R took home the award for Outstanding Daytime Drama. Mal Young accepted the trophy, stating, "It was my privilege and huge honor to look after this show for 3 years."
Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) was named Outstanding Lead Actor for the first time since 2003. "I think the big star here is the Alzheimer's story,” he said in his speech. "It wasn't acting; it was just living it because Max [Gail, Mike] reminded me so much of my father."
Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy, B&B) won her first-ever Emmy in the Outstanding Lead Actress category. "My day started with my baby spitting up on me and my heel broke right when I got on the red carpet,” she reported on stage. She also showed her gratitude for her boss: "To Brad Bell [executive producer/head writer], thank you for allowing me to play this beautifully flawless character."
Benards's castmate and storyline partner, Max Gail (Mike, GH), was named Outstanding Supporting Actor. "From the get-go showing up in a room with Frank [Valentini, executive producer] and Maurice [Benard, Sonny]...it's been a wonderful experience all the way...it's been such a rich and wonderful experience and I am so thankful for it," the actor enthused from the stage.
Vernee Watson (Stella, GH) brought home the gold for Outstanding Supporting Actress. This was the second consecutive year Watson won; in 2018, she was awarded the Guest Performer award. "This is just incredible. I am so grateful," she exclaimed.
Kyler Pettis (ex-Leo, DAYS) won for Outstanding Younger Actor, and praised the show during his acceptance speech. "I want to thank DAYS for giving me a chance. I want to dedicate this to the ongoing conversation about mental illness.
Hayley Erin (ex-Kiki, GH) was named Outstanding Younger Actress. "It was such an incredible ride," the actress, now appearing in PRETTY LITTLE LIARS: THE PERFECTIONISTS enthused. She was also really excited to be handed the trophy by JEOPARDY host Alex Trebek. "Everyone who knows me knows how much I love Alex Trebek!"
Patricia Bethune (ex-Mary Pat, GH) may have met a gruesome end on the show, she was glowing as she accepted her award for Outstanding Guest Performer, "I will go out of my way for a good view and this vista is incredible,” she said in her speech.
