THE AKC NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP DOG SHOW PRESENTED BY ROYAL CANIN will broadcast on Animal Planet on January 1, with segments airing throughout the televised competition of celebrity captains representing the breed of dogs they own in real life. Among the team leaders will be former soap stars Mario Lopez (ex-Christian, B&B) with his French Bulldog Julio Cesar Chavez Lopez, Cameron Mathison (ex-Ryan, AMC) with his Doberman, Red, and McKenzie Westmore (ex-Riley, AMC; ex-Sheridan, PASSIONS) with her greyhound, Asha. Dog lovers are invited to show their #TeamDog spirit by posting a photo of their dog to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, tag Royal Canin and share which #TeamDog they’re cheering for – all for a chance to have their dog’s photo featured in this year’s TV special. “I’ve always been a dog lover and a dog fan, says Westmore. “I’m just an animal fanatic. This was just so fun to get to be a part of. What a great way to start the New Year. What a sweet, loving innocent way to start a new year to do a show like this. I mean, it’s one of the largest dog shows in America, which I think is incredible. I was told it’s like the Super Bowl for dogs. I think it’s so neat and to see all these different types of breeds and all of the entries. It’s such a fun show to watch and it’s so entertaining.”
