Ron Scott, a publicist who handled a host of popular daytime stars, passed away February 10 in Los Angeles. A graduate of Hollywood Professional School, Scott segued from his early career as a dancer — and one of Goldie Hawn’s first dance partners — to handle publicity for Capitol Record clients including Eric Carmen and The Raspberries, Blue Swede, and Ringo Starr for his Goodnight Vienna solo album. Soon after, Scott was hired to handle the press for David Hasselhoff, then Y&R’s Snapper, a relationship that carried forward all the way to the end of the first season of KNIGHT RIDER. Over the course of his career, Scott also repped Jeanne Cooper (ex-Katherine, Y&R), Richard Dean Anderson (ex-Jeff, GH), Rick Springfield (ex-Noah, GH) and Mario Lopez (ex-Christian, B&B). In 1987, William J. Bell brought Scott on board to launch the U.S. and International press for Bell’s new soap, B&B, when it debuted. During his 40+ years as a publicist and owner of his own company, Hollywood Entertainment PR, Scott also worked with Joan Collins during the height of her DYNASTY success and Jason Bateman when he was starring in SILVER SPOONS. Most recently, Scott discovered 16-year-old teen clairvoyant Tyler Henry and launched his career with readings for some of Hollywood’s leading stars and industry insiders. Introducing him to producer Michael Corbett, who Scott handled when he was playing Y&R’s David, a TV pilot was developed by 44Blue. That show has become one of the network’s biggest hits on E! Channel, HOLLYWOOD MEDIUM. Moving out of publicity into full-time management with the now 22-year old as his sole client, Ron is credited with steering Henry to international fame.
