ICYMI: Olivia Rose Keegan On DAYS Comeback

“Going back, it actually did come as a bit of a surprise for me but I was so excited,” enthuses Olivia Rose Keegan of her return to the soap as Claire. “I think I did about two-and-a-half months’ worth of shows. It was a blast to film. It’s like a family reunion.”

Keegan says she was eager to see where her alter ego would be after her dramatic exit in July 2019. “I was absolutely excited, and most of all just curi ous as to what they were going to do because she left on a very ominous note, so I didn’t know what direction they were going to go,” she shares. “Getting the scripts is one of my favorite moments of that job because you’re finding out when you open up that script and start reading it. I loved the last six months of Claire’s writing and everything that they let me do with that. Being able to continue that would be great, and also a changed Claire would be very refreshing and nice for everyone to see.”

The actress was also thrilled to reconnect with her BFF, Victoria Konefal (Ciara). “It’s a dream,” she smiles. “Getting paid to work with your best friend is kind of not fair. Working with Victoria is obviously so fun because we have that natural chemistry to work off of. It was like coming home after a long break. It was great to see everybody’s faces and get back to filming in a place where I know everybody. It really, truly feels like home.” As for the comeback of her on-screen parents, Keegan enthuses “Seeing Martha [Madison, Belle] and Brandon [Beemer, Shawn] is always great because both of them have been so great and have shown me the ropes since the first day I walked on set and have always made me feel so comfortable. I think six months into my first run on DAYS, they were off the show and i Have been missing them ever since. Whenever they come back, it’s a real treat to get to talk to them, catch up on life and everything.”

DAYS isn’t Keegan’s only gig. The starlet can also be seen in the upcoming second season of the Disney+ series HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: THE MUSICAL: THE SERIES. “That has been an amazing opportunity,” she raves. “Once again, I get to combine my music, singing and acting, so that’s really just a dream. I was so lucky to be able to do it on DAYS, and the fact that I’m able to do it again is just amazing. I play Lily. She is a determined, straightforward, ambitious girl who knows exactly what she wants. She is a very determined girl willing to do whatever it takes to progress her career.”

She shares that she’s been honing her musical skills of late. “I play a little bit of guitar and a little bit of pain, but not very great,” Keegan concedes. “I’ve been working on that in quarantine. But on the show, no. No instruments for me. Hopefully one day.”
