Daytime Tragedy: Soap Community Reacts To Kristoff St. John’s Death

The soap community is responding on social media with shock and love to the tragic death of Kristoff St. John (Neil, Y&R) at age 52. CBS Television Network and Sony Pictures Television released the following joint statement: “The news of Kristoff St. John’s passing is heartbreaking. He was a very talented actor and an even better person. For those of us who were fortunate enough to work with him on ‘The Young and the Restless’ for the last 27 years, he was a beloved friend whose smile and infectious laugh made every day on set a joy and made audiences love him. On behalf of the Y&R cast and crew, CBS and Sony Pictures Television, we offer our heartfelt sympathy to his family and loved ones, especially his two daughters, Paris and Lola.” Eric Braeden tweeted (Victor, Y&R), “My good friend and colleague, MY BROTHA, KRISTOFF ST.JOHN , passed away!! No words right now!!” Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki, Y&R) addressed fans on Twitter with, “Thank you all for your condolences for my dear friend Kristoff. We all loved him so much. Brokenhearted.” Doug Davidson (Paul, Y&R) imparted, “In my life journey I have come across only a few people that radiate pure love, Kristoff was one of those people. He was so selfless when it came to caring for others. He was smart, so insightful, and supportive of everything positive. His smile would light up a room and his presence was always welcome. I will miss him. I know in my heart he has found peace and we all have another angel watching over us. God bless his soul. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Camryn Grimes (Mariah, Y&R) posted, “Our hearts are broken because his was the biggest.” Alison Sweeney (Sami, DAYS) reacted with, “This is such tragic news. Kristoff was a class act, always so kind & a fabulously talented actor. My heart goes out to his family, friends & fans mourning his sudden loss. Rest In Peace.” Tyler Christopher (Stefan, DAYS) offered, “@kristoffstjohn1 thank you for your friendship when I was having a difficult time some years ago. You didn’t even know me yet you dropped whatever you were doing to meet with me and share your spirit in hopes that it may lift mine. A rare commodity. Rest my friend.” Hunter King (Summer, Y&R) wrote, “My heart is so heavy today. Kristoff you were always so sweet and so kind to everyone. You had the best smile and the warmest hugs. Going to miss seeing you at work. Truly so saddend by this tragedy.” Melissa Ordway (Abby, Y&R) tweeted, “There are no words. Kristoff, I will miss your big hugs, bright smile and contagious laugh… you always made me laugh. It was a true honor to know you. We are heartbroken.” Melissa Claire Egan (ex-Chelsea) acknowledged, “So heartbreaking. Kristoff was such a loving, kind, welcoming, funny, wonderful soul. Can’t believe this news. Rest In Peace, beautiful man.” Chrishell Hartley (Jordan, DAYS) lamented, “Woke up to the terrible news of @kristoffstjohn1. Always so kind, and so welcoming, ready with a hug. Sending so much love to everyone feeling his loss and I pray he is at peace with his son.” Obba Babatundé (Julius, B&B) added, “The lights have diminished and the sound around me has been muted with the exception of the sound of hearts breaking due to the loss of a great human being. May his soul rest and his spirit sour. R.I.P Kristoff.” Adrienne Frantz (ex-Amber) posted, “So unbelievably heartbroken by the passing of my dear friend Kristoff St.John. I loved him so much! He was such a wonderful man! @kristoffstjohn I hope you are dancing with the angels and Your son today! The world just lost a beautiful soul! #kristoffstjohn #yr #loveyou.” B&B’s Ingo Rademacher (Thorne) shared, “Mate. You were just telling me how happy you were when we spoke in the CBS parking lot.? So shocked to hear this. RIP my old friend. You will be missed. My condolences to his family and all of his fans. ? you are with your boy now.” Cait Fairbanks (Tessa, Y&R) said, “A sweet soul. after a few scenes with you and @brytonejames that day you caught me taking a photo behind a plastic filter that I had found on the ground and instead of laughing at me you said “wow that’s so cool! can you show me?” sharing time with you was a true blessing. I’m so sorry.” Galen Gering (Rafe, DAYS) wrote, “I always enjoyed our talks- he was such a kind soul and a cool cat. And as a father I often wondered how he endured the pain of losing his son. I hope they are joined together again in peace. @kristoffstjohn1.”
