THE 411

An avid sports fan (his favorite teams are the Detroit Red Wings for hockey and the Miami Dolphins for football), Thorsten Kaye received his bachelor's degree in fine arts at United States International University in San Diego, CA, before getting his master's in theater at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. After starring as Shakespeare's Macbeth and Mark Anthony on-stage in Detroit's Hilberry Repertory Company, Kaye moved back to California, where he snatched up roles in various television projects. Then, in 1995, the actor headed to the Big Apple, where he was offered the part of brooding poet Patrick Thornhart on OLTL. Kaye stayed in New York for two years and, again, moved back West — this time with co-star and girlfriend Susan Haskell. After trying his luck in movies, Kaye accepted the part of sensitive doctor-turned-vampire Ian Thornhart — Patrick's brother — on PC. Kaye's performances earned him his first-ever Daytime Emmy nomination for Lead Actor in 2003.

MEMORABLE QUOTES

"I can't guide anybody! I have problems guiding my car into the driveway." — on giving advice to younger actors, Soap Opera Digest, 4/1/03

"Here's me — I'm kind of wrinkly and I look like I'm 47 — with all these beautiful women. What a great job I have." —Digest, 2/13/01

"I walk in and [learn I] have to do a kissing scene. Susan comes up to me and says, 'I just want to tell you that there will be no tongues.' I thought, 'Great, because that's what I wanted to do, tongue everybody and go home.' It was very awkward; I tease her about it now."— on his screen test with former co-star (and current girlfriend) Susan Haskell, Digest, 7/30/96
