The 411

Paul Satterfield was born in Nashville, TN and raised in California. His father was a Nashville firefighter who was killed in the line of duty. The actor attended Whitman College in Washington on a basketball scholarship. He earned degrees in English literature and dramatic arts. Satterfield decided to pursue acting as a full-time endeavor after graduating from college in 1984 and moved to Los Angeles.

His early career found him taking various roles in theater, film, commercials and print campaigns. Satterfield's big break came in 1991 when he landed the role of Paul Hornsby on GENERAL HOSPITAL. After a three-year stint at GH, the actor went on to star on the prime-time series HOTEL MALIBU.

His next major roles were in 1996 as Tom Massick on Aaron Spelling's series SAVANNAH, followed by a starring role on PACIFIC PALISADES in 1997. In 1998, Satterfield returned to daytime as Pierce on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL. After a year, Satterfield left the soap and moved up to Mendocino County, CA. During that time, he would commute 600 miles to L.A. for an array of diverse roles in film, TV and theater, highlighted by a part alongside Jim Carrey in the 2003 film Bruce Almighty and the Gary Marshall-directed play Crimes of the Heart.

In May 2005, the actor decided it was time to leave his California roots and head to New York to originate the role of Spencer on ONE LIFE TO LIVE.

Although his character was killed off in January 2007, Satterfield continues to appear sporadically as Spencer haunts and taunts various characters.

Memorable Quotes

"[Spencer] is a character who loves this. He loves to just toy with people, in a way." — Soap Opera Digest, 8/23/05

"Pierce was a real windbag. I had never seen B&B before I started the job, but the only thing I could really hope to do was develop as much richness and history with the character as I possibly could within a short period of time." — Digest, 5/29/01

"I probably learned more from Jane [Elliot, Tracy, GH] than all the time I spent in college or studying anywhere." — Digest, 1/28/97

"I used to think it would be the death of me to sign a three- or four-year contract, which isn't true. But I'm glad I waited for this part [on GH] and didn't get caught up in the studmuffin thing." — Digest, 5/12/92
