Mandy Bruno was born in Phoenix, but she grew up in Beaverton, Oregon. She began her acting career on the stage. One of the first roles she won was Jesus in her Catholic high school's production of Jesus Christ Superstar. When school officials demanded a male be recast in the lead role, Bruno's predicament sparked a national religious debate. She was recast as Pilate, but her experience didn't break her spirit, and she later went on to garner roles in regional productions of Beauty and the Beast, Anne of Green Gables and Little Shop of Horrors. She also co-starred in Broadway’s Les Misérables.
Bruno took over the role of Marina Cooper on GUIDING LIGHT on May 12, 2004. Eight weeks after landing the part, she graduated from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, with a BFA in theater. In 2006, Bruno received her first Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Younger Actress category. Marina gained popularity on the show in 2007, when she was romantically paired with Aussie stud Murray Bartlett (Cyrus).
Besides acting, Bruno enjoys singing, playing the guitar and writing music.

"Horoscopes kind of scare me sometimes, because they are so accurate. Virgos are known for being very structured and organized, and I fall right into that category, up to the clothes in the closet that are completely organized by color and sleeve length." — Soap Opera Digest, 9/7/04
"I've got two best girlfriends that live near me. They are my rocks, and they keep me so level-headed. They are my saving grace, and we just do goofy things. Everyone has crazy lives and crazy schedules, but you try to be normal when you can be." — Digest, 12/27/05
"When I was a 6-year-old, I saw Les Miz for the first time...I fell in love with theater at that point and wanted to play Eponine right away. When I was in Soap Opera Weekly, 5/1/07
