THE 411

Heidi Mueller was raised by parents Don and Pam in Cincinnati, OH. She is the youngest of four (she has two brothers, Joe and Chris and a sister Karla). Don and Pam divorced when Heidi was 8, but remain friends.

Mueller attended a small Christian school, where she was a cheerleader and played volleyball. She began modeling at age 16, and landed a contract with Wilhelmina Models management company in the summer of 2002.

The brunette beauty attended Liberty University in Virginia and majored in psychology. "I always read self-help books and books about psychology because I was interested in why we think the way we think and if things you go through are really going to affect you when you're an adult," she says. "I think that everybody needs somebody that they can talk to and adolescence is the age I wanted to work with."

During her junior year, sis Karla convinced her to attend an open casting call for a reality TV dating show, RICH GUY, POOR GUY. Though Mueller declined to participate in the show (which never made it to air), a casting person approached her family about appearing on NBC's WHO WANTS TO MARRY MY DAD?, on which Heidi and her siblings would find a woman for their father to date — and possibly marry. The Mueller clan said yes and were immediately brought to L.A., where the show was shot. WWTMMD? was a hit, even though Don didn’t marry Christena, the winning would-be bride.

Once the show wrapped, the Muellers headed back to Ohio and Heidi planned to finish college off-campus through an external degree program. Then, after attending an NBC party in the summer of '03 and chatting with then-President, NBC Entertainment Jeff Zucker and then-NBC Senior Vice President of Daytime Programming Sheraton Kalouria, she was asked to screen-test for PASSIONS’s Kay Bennett. They needed to recast the role after Deanna Wright exited. Even though she had no professional acting experience under her belt, Mueller landed the job and moved to L.A.

In December 2005, Mueller became engaged to actor Matthew Lawrence, but they ended their relationship two years later.

PASSIONS ended its NBC run on September 7, 2008, but Mueller signed on to move with the soap to DIRECTV. The show closed for good in August 2008.

QUOTES

"I got cut from every college play I auditioned for." — Soap Opera Digest, 12/16/03

"I love Julia Roberts; she’s my favorite actress. I like Jennifer Aniston. I like Leonardo DiCaprio. The reason I like them is because they kind of separate themselves from the business. They’re not always in your face, and I like that." — Digest, 7/27/04

"I think my hands are bony. It looks like I have E.T. fingers ... I always wanted to be a little taller and I wish I had a butt. I’m working on that now." — Digest, 10/25/05

YOU SHOULD HEAR WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT YOU!

"Besides my wife, Heidi is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen." — James Hyde (Sam), Digest, 10/25/05

"When she started [in 2003], she had never acted and came from the reality show. She was always very serious about the work and worked really hard to learn her lines. A soap opera is like boot camp. Now, she makes it all seem very spontaneous, and she’s right there for you. It's really been lovely to see her grow as an actress." — Juliet Mills (Tabitha), Digest, 7/31/07

"She has the ability to make the words come out of her mouth so naturally; dialogue] comes cascading out of her. I did a whole week with her where we had all these scenes, page after page after page; it was just wonderful. It's like she's got a perfect pitch as an actress." — Ben Masters (Julian), Digest, 7/31/07
