The 411
Amelia Marshall pursued her passion for dance by attending Houston's High School of Performing and Visual Arts. After graduating from the University of Texas, she worked as a telephone repair supervisor for Southwestern Bell. But her boredom pushed her to pack up and move to New York, where she stepped into singing and dancing gigs in Broadway's Cats, West Side Story and Big Deal.
In 1988, Marshall tapped into daytime, playing Miranda on ONE LIFE TO LIVE for four episodes. The following year, she landed a day-player role that turned into a seven-year run as GUIDING LIGHT's Gilly. Weeks after that character was written off, ALL MY CHILDREN hired Marshall as Noah's beloved sister, Belinda, a role she thrived in and for which she received Image Award nominations in three consecutive years. In 1999, Marshall moved from Pine Valley to Los Angeles with her son. Two years later, the actress returned to daytime as Eve's manipulative little sister, Liz, on PASSIONS — which gives her the unusual honor of being one of the few soap actresses to appear on all three networks.
Et Cetera
— As a Houston Jazz Ballet Company member, Marshall studied under Patrick Swayze's mother, Patsy.

Memorable Quotes
"My mom and sister watched soaps, but I hated them until I was in college. When I heard the theme from DAYS OF OUR LIVES, that meant it was time to go out and play." —Soap Opera Digest, 7/1/97
"Every guy who walked in that room just got more and more handsome. I thought, 'Oh, my goodness. If they can't pick somebody from this group, they're crazy.' I went home and told my [then-] husband [Kent Alan Schaffer], 'I kissed 11 handsome men today. Hope you don't mind.' "— On auditioning with potential Adrians when she was on AMC, Digest, 11/24/98
"Some days, laughter is the only thing I have. There are days that I have such hateful things to say that if I don't laugh about it, I'm lost." —On playing Liz, Digest, 2/4/03
