Raised in the Bronx, Saundra Santiago moved with her family to Homestead, Florida, when she was 13. While attending the University of Miami, where she majored in psychology, Santiago was set on becoming a special education teacher until acting caught her eye. She studied theater in graduate school at Southern Methodist University and went on to major success as a theater and film star, who is probably most known for her MIAMI VICE role as Gina Calabrese, which she landed in 1984.
