GL WEEK OF AUGUST 3, 2009 RECAPS

Week of Monday, August 03, 2009

Frank Dicopoulos
— CBS

Tuesday, August 04, 2009

On their trip, Phillip started feeling the effects of his disease. Meanwhile, Alan answered Phil's phone back at the hotel room. It was Ed but the connection was bad and he didn't realize he was really talking to Alan. Ed explained that Phil's disease has progressed, the treatment isn't working and his timeline remains the same. Alan was stunned by the news.

An emotional Marina glanced at her family photos and stared to sob. Meanwhile, outside the PD, Mallet was shocked when Dinah confessed to murdering the man she (and everyone else in Springfield) initially believed to be Edmund. She pleaded her case, saying she was just trying to protect Henry and confirmed that she did use the stroller to kill the guy. Mallet admitted he's in a tight spot knowing the information but advised Dinah to go be with her new husband and let the murder issue go. She was stunned. Their chat was cut short when a beaming Shayne arrived to retrieve his bride for their romantic wedding night.

Bill and Lizzie continued to work on their house and were upset when the power went out. Lizzie griped about not having any air conditioning. Bill cheered her up with a steamy romp. Meanwhile, Beth ran into Matt at the store and told him that she's going to help Bill and Lizzie work on their house. When they arrived together, they surprised the newlyweds who emerged from the bathroom out of breath and in robes. Matt offered his services as a contractor to help Bill with the house. Beth was excited for Lizzie, who inquired about Phil and said she'd like to see her parents reunite. Beth told her that Phil has no plans on getting romantic with her again, then revealed that Alan and Phil are on a road trip visiting minor league baseball parks. Lizzie was understandably surprised. Later, Bill and Lizzie were questioning their decision to stay in the fixer-upper when they discovered a big water leak, which quickly turned into a funny scene à la The Money Pit.

Phillip saw Alan back at the hotel and told his pop he's proud of him for confronting the widow's family and facing his guilt-ridden past. Alan then revealed that Ed called looking for Phil and he knows that he's dying from an incurable disease. So, Phil was forced to come clean and tell his father that he's dying. Alan was outraged when Phil said there is no cure and called him selfish for lying about everything. Then he stormed out. Phil ran after him and urged Alan to face the truth and use what little time he has left to fix their broken relationship. Alan refused to comply, spitting that it's too late to fix. Later, Alan returned to the diner and told Charlie he's sorry that he lost his dad in the war and added that he was honored to know him. Charlie thanked Alan and left. Meanwhile, back in the hotel room, Phil was upset as he took his pills.

Mallet came home and saw a shattered frame with a photo of him and Marina on the ground. Marina was tearful and wondered if Mallet had arrived with a warrant for her arrest. Mallet apologized for doubting her innocence and admitted that he's wrong and needs to make it up to her. Later, Frank came by to tell Mallet that he overheard Dinah confess the crime to him and demanded that he take immediate action. Mallet said he's going to arrest Dinah tomorrow and promised Frank he's handling the situation.

Back at the Beacon, Shayne carried Dinah over the threshold. They shared a beer and Dinah admitted she's afraid to let herself be so happy. Shayne was giddy as he discussed all the things they're going to do together, reminding her that she deserves to live a happy long life with him. Shayne took Dinah's wedding ring to get refitted when he realized it was slipping off her finger. They started kissing and began to undress. Shayne stepped out and Dinah got a call from Mallet explaining that Frank overheard everything and they have a big problem on their hands. She hung up and started freaking out.
