Natasha caught Cyrus taking off his shirt in the park, so she couldn't resist talking to him. He told her he got assigned by the Springfield PD to look for the diamonds. Meanwhile, his new partner, Remy was eyeing the diamonds when Doyle, the fence, called to ask Remy if he had more rocks to sell. Remy put him off. Frank arranged to meet Cyrus and Remy in the park with a list of pawnshops. Cyrus immediately culled the list and set out to question Doyle first. Remy begged off and went to the river. Lizzie jogged by and they commiserated about their bad days — and the coincidence that James stole from Clayton. Lizzie was suspicious how Remy paid his dad's mortgage. Meanwhile, Doyle assumed Cyrus was getting back into the life, and told him someone sold just the kind of loose diamond Cyrus is looking for.

At Company, Daisy told Buzz she felt guilty for James being in jail because she made his fake ID. Buzz pointed out that James was messing with Wall Street and the U.S. government. Meanwhile, Philip tried to convince Beth that James put himself in this position, but Beth called it a mistake. When Philip revealed that James ran two scams, she was stunned. Phillip insisted James needed to suffer severe consequences. Daisy brought James cake in jail, and they shared it through the bars. "I was in juvie, and it wasn't so bad," she offered. Christina went to Company and told Buzz she's not getting married to Remy — even though he offered her a big, loose diamond. Cyrus overheard her say Remy then sold it. Later, Christina quizzed Cyrus about his life as a jewel thief, and he demonstrated by lifting one of her earrings. Remy arrived and Cyrus told him Doyle tipped him off about a "dimwit" who sold him a diamond. At that moment, Frank called and told Remy to cut Cyrus loose, but Remy insisted he wanted to keep an eye on Cyrus.

Bill and Lizzie arrived at Towers after the party, where Allen was lurking. She told her grandfather that James needed to figure out his life without "Spaulding baggage." Phillip visited James to admit that while some of James' issues are his fault as an absentee father, James has to "own" his own culpability. James called his father "an arrogant, lying prick." Phillip was relieved that James is still capable of a human emotion like anger, since he feared the kid had become a sociopath. When Alan arrived at SPD, he told Phillip to handle James and, "I'll take care of Beth." Alan found Beth in the courtroom lamenting how she'd "failed" James, and Allan vowed to protect the family. Bill visited James, and said while he forgives James, he better not hurt Lizzie again. Outside, Clayton told Phillip he's one of the people James stole from. Phillip offered to help, but Clayton rebuffed him He did lecture Phillip that when a child messes up this bad, it the blame usually goes back to the parents, so Phillip better treat this seriously. Phillip went back inside to yell at James, but Beth came to his defense, insisting James knows he was wrong. Phillip disagreed, comparing James to Alan. Beth said Phillip is the one who's trying to turn others into him. Alan brought in an attorney, Mr. Lyon, for James — only to discover he was being arraigned early. Beth called Lizzie to summon her to the courtroom, but Lizzie declined to attend. In court, the judge told James he was actually impressed by the kid's Ponzi scheme — and the show of family support. When the judged hinted at a low bail, James promised to behave. But Phillip interjected to warn the judge that James had pulled the same scam twice, and was sure to repeat it again. So the judge remanded him into custody.
