Cyrus told Grady that Bill has been secured on the private jet, and ordered his brother to cover his tracks. Daisy heard Grady talking, so he covered, saying Cyrus left on a business trip. She suggested Grady move out while she visits family so that he's not alone with Ashlee, because she has a crush on him. When he joked about taking advantage, she melted down.

At the courthouse, Lizzie watched as her father was manacled as a flight risk. She said that Cyrus wasn't her kidnapper, but Phillip insisted either Bill or Cyrus is lying. When he suggested she's like him, she countered that he doesn't know her anymore. Later, Lizzie ran into Ashlee (who was picking up police blotter), and expressed hesitance to attend her father's bail hearing for kidnapping her. Ashlee called being kidnapped twice "cool," so Lizzie played the tape of the kidnapper threatening to take her again and make sure she stays gone. At Towers, Beth and Rick discussed his reluctance to attend their class reunion.

Later, as Phillip's hearing began, Lizzie ran into Rick outside the courtroom, and they agreed they couldn't go inside. Lizzie asked if Phillip could kidnap her again; Rick said nobody is ever really safe. Inside, Beth spoke up for Phillip, pointing out he didn't actually take the kids or demand money. When his lawyer said Phillip was throwing himself on the mercy of court Beth balked, and Phillip made him his legal representation. Beth argued that he is not a flight risk because he returned to Springfield on his own. The judge set bail at $250,000. Later, at WSPR, Grady complimented Ashlee and told her that Doris had him chasing leads on Lizzie, and he asked Ashlee to check Bill's and Lizzie's desks at Spaulding for any info. Still later, Daisy tan into Lizzie at the store, where they both admitted they're struggling to cope after the funeral and the way their grandfathers are struggling. Lizzie admitted she's scared of her father. Grady happened to be in the next aisle, and overheard Lizzie say Cyrus could not have been the kidnapper (as Bill suspected) because he doesn't have a scar. Then she played the tape of the threat for Daisy, and pointed out she hadn't played it for the cops. Lizzie next went to Bill's room, where she found Roxy! Grady suddenly appeared, giving her a fright. He claimed he was checking on dog. She left with Roxy. Grady lounged in the room, and left Cyrus a message noting that Lizzie is getting antsy. Back at the courthouse, Frank returned Phillip to his cell. Beth promised to post bail, even though she wasn't sure he deserved to be released. He asked her to represent him at trial. even though she hasn't finished law school let alone passed the bar.

As they walked in the snow, Christina and told Remy that her grandmother is sick, and she felt bad about lying to her about med school. At the Spaulding estate, Alan faced down a tire iron-wielding Buzz, who lunged at him. When Alan clutched his chest, Buzz laughed and left him lying on the ground. Then Buzz grabbed his arm and collapsed. The grouches dragged themselves to a rock wall and argued about who should call 911. Buzz gave in, and Remy arrived with Christina in tow. Remy insisted on treating Buzz first, so Christina handled Alan. Elsewhere, Ashlee was talking to Daisy when she got a call that her grandfather had had a heart attack, and followed her to Cedars, where Alan credited Christina with saving him. She was heartened by his faith, and realized she is meant to be a doctor. Later, Christina visited Alan, who promised not to forget that she saved him.
