Lizzie stood in shock and disbelief as Bill confessed that he couldn't remember anything about the kidnapping and therefore didn't know if he was guilty or not. As the time for them to give their live presentation approached, Lizzie struggled to pull herself together. Bill apologized for hurting her. Lizzie reminded Bill that when he'd rescued her, he said the only thing that mattered to him was being with her because he loved her so much. She asked if he remembered their emotional reunion, but he didn't. "I didn't think it could get any worse," Lizzie said as tears filled her eyes. Bill questioned whether or not they should go through with the press conference, but Lizzie was determined to proceed as planned.

Furious that Doris was ruining Bill's reputation, Daisy asked Grady to talk to Doris to see if he could get her to back off of Bill. Grady didn't think it was a good idea because he'd just started working for her. Ashlee added that Doris was hard to convince anyway. "He's not going to jail, isn't that all that matters?" Grady asked. That wasn't enough for Daisy, so she set out to find Bill and Lizzie. Later they all went to Company and Grady ran into Dinah, who ordered him to stay away from her now that the kidnapping mess was over. Meanwhile, Cyrus paid Alan a visit at the mansion and threatened to tell Lizzie how her granddad worked with Grady to frame Bill. Cyrus warned Alan it would ruin his relationship with Lizzie, but Alan remained confident that it wouldn't, because whenever Lizzie's boyfriends mistreated her, he was always there. Back at Company, everyone watched the TV screen as Bill and Lizzie began their statement. Lizzie mumbled through her presentation and then, overwhelmed with the whole ordeal, ran out. Everyone wondered why Lizzie had gotten so upset, and Daisy was more convinced that Bill and Lizzie needed her help. Back at the mansion, Alan was happy to see that Lizzie had lost faith in Bill. When Bill found Lizzie she apologized for running out. Bill couldn't take seeing her hurt anymore, so he decided they needed to go their separate ways. He agreed to move out, vowing that he'd somehow get his memory back and figure out what really happened.

Lizzie returned to the mansion and informed Alan and Cyrus that she and Bill had broken up. Alan feigned concern, but Lizzie told him to save it. She then asked Cyrus to work with her at Spaulding. Alan urged her to rest before jumping back to work, but Lizzie didn't want to waste any time. While Lizzie stepped outside of the mansion to get fresh air, Bill sat outside the gates hoping to catch a glimpse of her.
