At the shady motel, Daisy and Grady discussed moving into new digs because they don't have money to cover their room anymore. Both agreed they still want to live together. Daisy grabbed the morning paper and was stunned to read that Bill's charges have been dropped due to the fire, which burned all the evidence. Grady rushed out, saying he needs to assist Doris with the reporters. Meanwhile, Cyrus phoned Grady and urged him to call back as soon as possible. When Grady got to the municipal building, Ashlee caught him snooping around Doris's desk. She laughed it off and agreed to keep mum, then thanked Grady for helping her to get into Doris's hospital room after the fire.

After celebrating New Year's together, Lizzie woke up in bed next to a sleeping Bill and touched his scar. Later, they read the headline about Bill's charges being dropped. Lizzie called it a Christmas miracle. She resolved to move on and told him that nothing stands in the way of them being together now. On the other side of town, Olivia woke up late and freaked out about Emma being tardy for school. Natalia took charge and offered to get the girl dressed and ready before her bus arrived. After, Liv thanked her roomie for helping out. In turn, Nat offered to prepare a caviar breakfast for Liv.

Frank caught up with Daisy at Company, where he spied her stealing from the register. Frank told her about his recent chat with Harley over the holidays. Daisy made small talk and said she had to leave. Frank called her out on stealing from Company and advised her to reevaluate who she has become, with or without Grady in her life. Later, Daisy confided in Cyrus about losing her knack for lying and stealing, and explained that she and Cyrus are getting evicted and she's just borrowing the money from Buzz. Cyrus offered to let Daisy and Grady stay with him. Daisy declined and then left to meet Ashlee, who told her pal to stick to her guns and show everyone she loves Grady because he's "hot and sexy."

Bill and Lizzie arrived at the courthouse to discuss Bill's indictment. Doris approached the judge with an oxygen tank by her side and said that she can't try the case because of the burned evidence. The judge told Bill he's a free man; Lizzie was elated. Bill was also happy and pulled Lizzie into a passionate kiss after saying that she's the only thing he wants right now. Meanwhile, Doris coughed as she greeted reporters. She informed them that Bill's charges may be dropped, but the case against him is far from over; Lizzie was stunned and angry. Later, Grady applauded Doris's rapport with the reporters. Doris suggested to Foley that Ashlee might have feelings for him. He promised he that they're just friends.

At the Beacon, Nat marveled at Liv's determination to continue working, despite being exhausted. Nat received a call from Rafe's lawyer, who explained that the loophole he thought he could use to get Rafe out of prison sooner, didn't work. Nat was bummed and relayed the news to Olivia who urged Nat to take the rest of the day off, to no avail. Olivia went to Company and placed a special order with Frank to help cheer up Natalia. Meanwhile, Natalia picked up Emma from school. They went to the convenience store where Emma explained she has a new assignment to write about what makes her family special. Later, Olivia went home to care for Emma, who inquired about Natalia. Liv said Nat is going out to have a special night on her own. Nat headed off to Company and was pleasantly surprised to see Frank and a table set for two with all of her favorite foods. She thanked him and wondered how he knew all her favorite foods. He didn't reveal that Olivia set up the entire dinner.

Back at the courthouse, Bill was harassed by an officer in the restroom, who spat that Lewis should've been locked up. Cyrus arrived to talk to Lizzie. She told him that she no longer needs his services in finding out the truth if Bill's her kidnapper because she's just relieved that he's free. She handed Cyrus a wad of cash and warned him never to discuss the matter with her again. Later at the mansion, Lizzie was freaking about Doris ruining Bill's freedom. She suggested they hold a press conference to list the reasons why he'd never kidnap her and prove once and for all to everyone in town that he's truly innocent. Bill thanked Lizzie for her unwavering support, then told her that he can't keep lying to her and finally revealed that he can't remember if he kidnapped her or not.

At Company, Doris told Ashlee that she thinks Grady has feelings for her. Ash plead with her mom to stop trying to set her up. Later, Ashlee told Grady and Daisy that she'd love for them to be her new roomies; they took her up on the offer.
