Fearful that she really did see Griggs in the Towers elevator, Dinah pulled
a gun from under her bed at the Beacon and hid it in a plant, while a
towel-clad Mallet (fresh from the shower) reassured her that Griggs was
still locked up. Later at her doctor appointment, Dinah admitted that she
thought she eyed her shooter. The doctor assured her that it was just a
hallucination and a common occurrence for people in her condition. When she
saw Griggs again in the hospital hall, she tried to convince herself it was
all in her head and began writing down her memory of the moment, just as the
doc suggested. When Griggs suddenly lunged at her and threatened her, Dinah
pulled the gun from her purse and shot him. As sirens rang out, Dinah
checked the body and saw blood; Griggs was dead. She rushed off to find
Mallet on Main Street and confessed what she'd just done, suggesting they
hide the body. Later (and after a brief CBS news interruption), Dinah took
Mallet to Griggs, whose body was no longer at Cedars. She was horrified to
learn she'd hallucinated the entire shooting and begged Mallet not to think
she was going insane. The gun she had in her purse, however, was all too
real. Mallet soothed Dinah, said that he understood her frustration and
ushered
her home.
At Towers, Alan spent some rare quality time with his other granddaughter,
Emma, and discussed how wonderful of a man her daddy (Phillip) was. When
Reva showed up, Alan became defensive and railed at La Shayne for trying to
kidnap Emma before, reminding her that he was on Olivia's side. The duo
traded their typical barbs, Reva claimed she still couldn't remember the
details of the car accident and then spat about Spaulding's attempt to ruin
Olivia and Emma's lives, just like he had done to Jonathan and Sarah.
At the Spaulding mansion, Gus pulled Natalia away from their steamy buss.
The duo argued and Nat called him out on leading her on. Frazzled, Gus
apologized and fetched some Pepto from the desk to calm his queasy stomach.
After he discovered a bottle of Valium, he assured Nat that the
drugs weren't his and added that his pill-popping days were long behind him
despite his frequent temptation to use again.
Back at Cedars, Cassie and Harley were still trying to solve the mystery of
who drugged Harley the night she passed out at Dylan's place. Harley
surmised it was Natalia, while Cassie thought Alan was the culprit. They
parted ways and continued the investigation separately. Harley arrived at
the Spaulding manse to interrogate Natalia, suggesting that as an
experienced barkeep Nat probably knew how to mix a perfect Valium-laced
cocktail. Nat denied any wrongdoing. Meanwhile, Cassie stopped by Cross
Creek to visit Reva. Cassie was forced to admit that she and Josh were still
not technically married, then asked Reva if she believed Dylan was capable
of drugging Harley just to win her back. Reva scoffed at the suggestion,
adding that it sounded more like her own kind of devious game.
Later on Main Street, Cassie unexpectedly confronted Rafe and warned him
about Alan's knack for ruining lives (even Phillip, who was always his
favorite son) and encouraged the boy to get out of Spaulding's orbit for
good.... Reva paid Olivia a visit and demanded that she ask Alan to back
off.
Back at the Spaulding manse, Alan and Gus entered the fold of Nat and
Harley's conversation about the drugging. Harley turned the blame on Alan,
as Gus pulled out the bottle of Valium to further prove her accusations,
then he remembered the mysterious call that led him to
find Harley in Dylan's bed. The story quickly unraveled with all the
evidence stacking up against Alan, who coldly admitted that he did drug
Harley, but said it was an act of goodwill to benefit everyone, not ruin
lives. Emotions ran high as Alan attempted to defend his actions in front of
Rafe who'd also arrived, but the fight was interrupted by a call from Olivia
asking Alan to stay out of her life and Emma's (aiming to temporary quash
Reva's anxieties, of course). Alan was confused by Olivia's sudden change of
heart but was quickly forced to return his attention to the other, more
pressing situation at hand. Upset by his grandfather's manipulations, Rafe
turned to leave. Alan called after him, mistakenly referring him to as
Phillip (oops!). Gus, meanwhile, was appalled and deemed Alan's despicable
actions "unforgivable" before leaving himself. Natalia screamed at Alan for
trying to ruin everyone's lives and demanded that he stay out of hers for
good. She also left, leaving Alan alone to ponder his losses.
Back at home, Mallet tucked Dinah into bed and told her it was okay to be
embarrassed for her mistake and then departed. Seeing that Mallet had
accidentally left his keys on his way out the door, Dinah ran after him in
the hall where she saw Griggs ... again.
