GL Recaps Week of April 9, 2007

Beth ran into Lillian at Cedars; she was curious as to why her daughter would need an OB/GYN appointment to confirm her pregnancy since she already knows. Beth brushed it off, but Lillian suggested that maybe Beth doesn't really know who the father is yet. When Lillian realized that Beth was trying to get Alan back, she called Beth out on faking her first pregnancy and being selfish in her desire to snag Alan again (despite the fact that they're not married anymore and that Rick might actually be the father of her unborn baby). Beth vowed that she would give Alan a baby, even if it wasn't his. As the two continued to bicker, Cassie overheard the conversation, unnoticed. Then she got a call from Josh.

Alan confronted Rick and accused the doc of trying to kill him in the hospital. Alan told Rick that the little affair he had with Beth while Alan was in the coma was purely nostalgic and that he was the only one who could give Beth what she needs, then he threatened Rick to stay away from her for good. Rick surmised that Alan was blackmailing Beth, but Alan said it wasn't the case, reminding him that if he wanted to keep what little dignity he had left, he'd leave Beth alone.

Vinnie Salerno's goons continued to beat up Josh in prison. Reva, meanwhile, got dolled up for another visit to see him. Daisy watched her get ready and called her the hottest grandma in Springfield before she started fishing around for love advice (adding that no one should be kept away from someone they truly belong with). When Gus and Harley suddenly arrived, a stern Harley informed Daisy that she was being shipped back to boot camp. Daisy, of course, protested and Harley blamed Reva for her daughter's bad attitude. They began to argue yet again about their different parenting tactics. When Harley got a call from Jude, who was sick at school, she decided to go pick him up while Gus volunteered to drive Daisy the long distance to the boot camp himself; Harley noted that the weather might take a turn for the worse and advised them to be extra safe on their road trip. Before she left, Harley brought her claws out and snickered that Reva was far too dressed up for a simple visit to see Josh.

Due to the bad fog, Gus and Daisy were forced to pull over and stop in at a random roadside motel for the night. The only room they had left was a small one with a single bed and a couch. Daisy noted how funny their connection was and begged Gus to listen to what she had to say before he passed out on the couch. She admitted she had never met anyone like him before and finally blurted out that she was in love with him, adding that not even her fragile relationship with Harley could change her feelings.

Reva ran into Alan, who claimed he wanted to grab a drink and catch up with her; she passed. Alan told her he'd heard they had "quite a time together" while he was comatose, no doubt referring to how she taunted him and later shot him up with L-Dopa. When he found out she was going to see Josh, he added that Josh was a lucky guy to have so many women fighting for his attention. Reva seethed that Alan should be the one in the orange jumpsuit and warned him to watch his back.

Back at the prison, Josh requested that Cassie visit him again (finally). He encouraged her to focus on her own life, take care of herself and RJ and not worry about him. He reminded her that he wasn't getting out of prison anytime soon and suggested that they take a break. Josh continued to give his impassioned plea, begging Cassie that he needs to protect them both so that when he does get out, they'll finally be able to be together. He reminded her that he loves her and then requested the guard take him back to his cell. Cassie appeared devastated. During Reva's visit later, Josh let her in on the news of the temporary breakup and asked Reva to talk to Cass. After telling Cassie to go away, Josh thanked Reva for her support and asked her to stay with him. He also asked Reva to set up another "conjugal" visit so he could just be Josh and not some prisoner with eyes watching him all of the time. It was a safe place and he needed it, even if he had to lie about being married to Reva to get it. Reva vowed to help him do whatever it takes to get him through this rough patch.

Harley complained to Rick about her child woes at Cedars. He thought shipping Daisy off to boot camp was a little harsh. Then he admitted he was kind of excited about starting over with the new baby and told Harley about his situation with Beth. Harley was shocked and added that he was better off without someone as devious as Beth.

Cassie spotted Beth outside of Company and railed at her for being so insensitive. How could she reunite with Alan considering what he had done to Tammy and Josh? Just then, unctuous Alan arrived and told Cassie to give Josh his regards. Later, Beth told Alan that she was indeed pregnant and it is his baby. Alan was initially stunned, but he was happy, noting that it was the beginning of a new Spaulding era. They both mused that now they could rid themselves of Alan-Michael and Rick. Meanwhile, a determined Cassie informed Rick to be careful lest he get hurt, explaining how Beth had lied about her pregnancy before but now she was truly pregnant. She said the baby might not be Alan's after all and there's a chance it could be Rick's.

When Cassie received a call from Josh, what popped up on her caller ID?

Marina left a message for Mallet from the car in which she was staking out Cyrus. Cyrus jumped into the car with a cup of coffee for Marina; she placed him under arrest for thwarting her job.

At Company, Olivia met up with Buzz and told him to gather the family for an engagement celebration. Buzz was thrilled when Olivia declared that she did indeed want to marry him and made her promise that from here on out, she will be honest with him. Marina arrived with a handcuffed Cyrus, on the grounds that she needed to attend the dinner, but also keep an eye on the Aussie. Cyrus got a moment alone and called an associate to say that he was having trouble getting to the money. Jeffrey showed up and asked Olivia if there was a private party afoot. He was poised to grab a cup of coffee elsewhere when Buzz intervened and invited him to stay as a hatchet-burying move. Liv proposed a toast to the Coopers and pledged her love to Buzz (which was not music to Jeffrey's ears). Jeffrey wished them happiness then excused himself. Before he left, Cyrus asked him about possibly retaining his services as a lawyer. Olivia chased after him and Jeffrey assured her that he knew what had happened between them meant nothing. Cyrus told the Cooper men that he has a pretty cop stalking him. He then planted a kiss on a stunned Marina.

Cassie talked to Rev. Rutledge about her desire to marry Josh quickly so that she can have visitation time with him. Cassie then pleaded with Jeffrey to help her get Josh moved to a different cell block (away from Salerno). Cassie and Jeffrey wished each other well. Cassie went to the jail and was upset to find out that Josh had taken her off his list of approved visitors. She was certain there had to be some mistake.

Reva brought Daisy to Billy's. Daisy complained to her grandparents about Harley's desire to send her to boot camp. Billy spotted Reva's wedding ring on her finger and demanded an explanation. She relayed that in accordance with Cassie's wishes, she's posing as Josh's wife to the prison guards to get one-on-one time with Josh. Reva broke down in tears over the reality of her continuing feelings for Josh and confessed to Billy that she'd kissed him. Cassie interrupted their discussion by calling to tell Reva that Josh was apparently refusing to see her. Reva left to tend to Cassie, but not before Billy cautioned her, "Let Josh go." Daisy came back and begged Billy to let her stay there. He said no. Daisy sussed out Billy's feelings about Dylan possibly coming to town.

Reva met up with Cassie and informed her that Josh thinks it's in her (Cassie's) best interests not to see him. An adamant Cassie ordered Reva to return to the prison for another conjugal visit to talk him out of it. Reva refused but capitulated to appease Cassie.

An already injured Josh was attacked by Vinnie Salerno in prison. A guard pulled the two of them apart and demanded that Josh explain what happened. He lied and claimed he tripped. Then the guard suddenly led Josh to an unexpected conjugal visit where (surprise!) Reva was waiting for him.

The next scene showed what led up to said visit: Earlier, Reva met Mel and Cassie at Company to talk about Josh's situation (and his terrible injuries). Cassie explained that Josh refused to tell her what was going on so she decided that if she married him and was granted conjugal visits, she'd be able to take pictures of Josh's cuts and bruises and stop the beatings for good. The plan fizzled, however, when she discovered that there was a waiting period for getting married. Cassie was at a loss, but after a little brainstorming, she eagerly suggested that Reva (Josh's ex-wife) make the conjugal visits instead in order to save him from further harm. Reva admitted she wanted to protect Josh, but faking their marriage was not really a step she was ready to take. Cassie begged Reva, noting that she was the only person who could help; Reva reluctantly agreed and later showed up at the prison, armed with a high-tech lipstick cam and a wedding ring.

A warden questioned Josh and Reva's divorce; Reva claimed they had changed their minds at the last minute and the papers were never filed. After more interrogation, the warden inspected Reva's purse, but didn't detect the camera. She did, however, see Cassie's love letter to Josh. Reva covered by calling Cassie a desperate witch who's out to woo her husband. Reva then pulled the sympathy vote by bringing up her cancer story. After the warden bought it, Reva was sent in to see Josh, who was shocked to find her there.

Back to where the episode started, Reva explained that it was all Cassie's idea and let him in on why she's there. Disturbed by Josh's behavior, Reva questioned Josh about his injuries, but he brushed it off. Then she demanded that he take off his shirt and reveal his bruises; bickering ensued until Reva pulled up his shirt and saw all the contusions. He finally 'fessed up to the brawls, but didn't disclose that he’d tangled with Salerno. Brought to tears by Josh's wheezing and pain, Reva began to wash his wounds. They embraced and then they kissed.

Meanwhile on Main Street, Harley tried to comfort an obviously distressed Cassie and helpfully reminded her what "conjugal" meant. She didn't think it was a good idea to let Reva go visit Josh, but Cassie claimed she wasn't too worried because she trusts her ex-brother-in-law/fiancé Josh and Reva completely. Harley griped about Daisy and Reva, but Cassie maintained that Reva is still her sister and still wants the best for Cassie and Josh.

Later on, Harley paid Officer Payton (from boot camp) a visit, inquiring about how Daisy’s doing. She was shocked to discover that her daughter never even made it to the program because Reva had picked her up; Harley railed at Payton for going behind her back.

Back at the prison, Josh quickly apologized for the kiss. Reva asked if he could be moved or request a transfer to a different prison. Still unaware of who beat him up, Reva probed Josh for answers, but he remained tight-lipped. Josh then changed the subject, saying that he didn't want to let Cassie marry him in the prison and suggested that perhaps he should just call it off with her to ease her suffering; Reva told him that’s a very bad idea. As Reva said good-bye to Josh, Harley watched, unnoticed, as the two passionately smooched. As Reva was leaving the prison, Harley confronted Reva in her car. She called Reva out on kissing her ex-husband and then proceeded to scream at her about making decisions for Daisy. They traded barbs and tensions rose, especially after Reva accused Harley of abandoning Daisy when she most needs her mother.

Afterward, Cassie met Reva at Company to get the scoop; Reva told her about Vinnie Salerno (one of the guards informed her that he was responsible for the beatings). Cassie graciously thanked her sis and asked about the note she’d written to her fiancé. Though Reva forgot to hand it over to Josh, she covered, telling Cassie that Josh loved it. Cassie continued to prod Reva about Josh news but Reva, who appeared uncomfortable, avoided talking about the visit. Later, a distressed Reva returned to her car, glanced at Cassie’s letter and the wedding ring.

Mallet interrogated Matt and Vanessa about the money transfer from the bank account in the Caymans. Vanessa claimed she had no idea what happened; everyone suspected Cyrus was behind it. Matt revealed to a shocked Dinah in private that his prints (not just Cyrus') would be found on the account if Mallet kept snooping. He explained that he needed to to woo big investors and dipped into the investment fund to make up for the loss. Meanwhile, on Main Street, Cyrus was looking at the transfer form as he approached Springfield Bank when Marina (who was still following him) suddenly showed up. Cyrus covered, claiming he was opening up a local bank account. She scoffed that he was probably laundering money or finding a way to hide his jewels. She then suggested that he take a room at the boardinghouse, if he was going to stay in town, so he took the room next to hers.

Later, a rep at Springfield Bank confirmed to Mallet that Cyrus had opened up a personal account, but he was harmless — he'd even put them down as references! When Mallet suggested calling the FBI on Cyrus, Dinah was forced to tell him the truth about Matt taking money out of the fund. She begged him to back off of the case and he agreed, for the time being. Then Cyrus called Dinah to let her know that the money transfer worked but he couldn't access the funds. He demanded that she fix the problem; Dinah lied to her hubby about the call.

At Company, Olivia and Jeffrey traded barbs about parenting Ava, who appeared pleased by the attention at first. They both agreed that they wanted a better life for Ava, but Jeffrey advised her to get away from Spaulding while Liv wanted her to aim for the top of the ladder. Fed-up by their arguing, Ava started complaining, noting that she would learn from her parents' mistakes but she was going to pursue her future "her own way." Later, Ava assured Jeffrey that A-M wasn't a factor, but he called her out on her feelings for him; she admitted that she couldn't keep her mind off of her boss. Meanwhile, Liv ran into Alan-Michael outside of the restaurant. When Jeffrey tried to defend Liv, A-M insinuated that Liv was a whore, so Jeffrey punched him. Ava left to tend to Alan-Michael, while Jeffrey and Liv shared a tender moment as she iced his hand.

Alan got an update about Spaulding Enterprises matters from Alan-Michael. Alan praised A-M's accomplishments, then quipped that he was surprised that his son had achieved so much considering all the time he spent attempting to seduce Beth. A-M set the record straight, noting that Beth was actually the guilty party. When Alan brought up his living will and the L-Dopa treatments, A-M pled his case. But Alan called himself a fool for putting his life in his son's hands, then proclaimed that he would take back Spaulding — and A-M's services were no longer needed since he had disgraced the Spaulding name. A stunned Alan-Michael retaliated by reminding his father of his involvement in Jonathan's death.

At the Beacon to drown his sorrows, A-M first begged Ava to just leave him alone, then he grabbed her and gave her a passionate smooch. Ava wasn't thrilled, especially after he tried to pit her against Liv and Jeffrey. She called him on his constant lies, noting that it's a trait that must just be in his genes (that Spaulding curse!), then declared that she deserves better. A-M loudly vowed to get what's his as she stormed out.

At the Spaulding mansion, Ashlee was mortified that Doris was looking at her wedding photos. Doris refused to believe that their life as Spauldings would likely come to an end; Ashlee concluded that Alan was setting them up for revenge. Later, Alan arrived and Doris beamed as he viewed their wedding album. When Alan suggested that vows were meant to be broken, Doris countered by reminding him of their prenup. Alan simply pointed to a photo of Ashlee, declaring that this was the face of the person who shot him. He promised to keep quiet if Doris and Ashlee got out (and moved out) of his life today. Ashlee agreed that it was a good idea, but Doris continued to fight, shocking her daughter with her willingness to take the case to trial. When Ashlee started to apologize again to Alan, Doris stopped her (much to Alan's delight). He reminded Ashlee again that she wasn't a Spaulding (because if she were, the shot would have killed him!) and never will be. Doris handed over her keys and the Wolfes left the mansion as Alan very creepily drew bars over a picture of Josh in the paper, saying "Sorry Josh, we all have to make sacrifices!"

Dinah helped Mallet write a proposal for the governor's Crime Commission; they canoodled while Cyrus lurked the balcony. Once Mallet split, Cyrus emerged from his hiding place and told Dinah that he'd arranged for her to meet with Vanessa's banker, Finch, so that they could carry out their scheme. He handed her a wig and a stolen key to Vanessa's place, where the meeting was to take place. Later, Dinah, disguised as Vanessa, wooed the banker in order to secure a funds transfer from the company's Cayman Islands account to a local bank. When she signed the paperwork, however, Dinah signed her own name instead of Vanessa's (oops!) and Finch called her out on it. Panicked, she said that Dinah's name was the security pass code. The banker bought it. Afterward, Mallet unexpectedly showed up and was surprised to see Dinah alone at Vanessa's place; she covered that she was trying on her mom's clothes. Mallet said the bank told him about the funds transfer and he wanted to check it out because he was suspicious of Cyrus, adding that if the sketchy ex-con was trying to scam Dinah's mom he'd nail him for it.

Beth went to Cedars to pick up Alan's belongings. She informed Rick that Alan was back at home and surprisingly pleasant, considering the circumstances. Rick attributed Alan's unusual behavior on the drugs and insisted that nothing had changed, encouraging Beth to continue their plan of raising her baby together. Rick lost it when Beth wouldn't comply, making her tell him when Alan had ever come through on a promise; she couldn't. Rick demanded to know what kind of game she was playing and why she insisted on staying with Alan. Beth claimed it was where she truly belonged then said that Rick didn't really even know who she was. Rick called her bluff, then cracked that Alan must have given her a better offer (monetarily, that is). Beth slapped Rick, then immediately cozied up to him, claiming that she just needed closure with Alan before moving on.

In her car, Reva received word of Alan's condition from a radio news broadcast. She took a sigh of relief, hoping he'd remember his shooter. She was surprised by Daisy, who was hiding out in the backseat of the car. Daisy informed Reva that she'd escaped from boot camp and begged her grandma to not tell Harley. Later, when scary boot camp counselor Payton showed up, Daisy tried to come up with an excuse about why she couldn't return to camp, but he wasn't falling for it. When the officer called Reva "granny," she lashed out and told him Daisy was staying with her; Daisy was relieved and extremely grateful.

At the prison, Cassie railed at the guards for allowing Josh to get beat up. When she saw Alan had arrived to pay Josh a visit, she was so shocked and happy that she hugged him. Alan told her that he was a changed man, but when she begged him to tell the police Josh was innocent, Alan claimed everything was already under control. He said he'd hired lawyers for Josh; Cassie assumed he was trying to keep Josh behind bars for even longer so she screamed at him, telling he had emerged from his coma even worse than he was before. Alan tried to explain his plan, but she wouldn't listen. When Cassie finally slapped him, Alan thanked her and told her that he needed it. Transformed yet again, Alan said he thought coming out of the coma was his wake-up call, but the slap had jolted him back into reality, Adding, "I am the alpha dog and I will always get the bone." Shaking with anger, Cassie threatened to put Alan back in the hospital by attacking him. Alan claimed that justice had been served and left, then Mallet came to the rescue and he tried to comfort Cassie by telling her that there was still a chance Alan would speak up about Josh's innocence.

At the Spaulding manse, a tippling Alan was angry and obviously back to his old self. He screamed at Beth and surmised that she probably planned a funeral even though he wasn't dead.He assured her that he'd get rid of Doris as soon as he could. In return, Beth told Alan that his instincts were right; she'd been living a lie. Then she came clean about faking her pregnancy. Alan admitted that he was turned on by her ability to be so deceptive. Beth was amused that Alan wasn't furious with her, then claimed that Alan-Michael tried to seduce her and threatened to hurt Alan by increasing his drugs while he was in the coma. Once she knew Alan was back on her side, Beth suggested that they try to make a baby together; they kissed and headed up to their bedroom.

Back at the prison, Cassie told Reva about Alan's visit and Josh's terrible condition. They wondered who could be responsible for such a thing, but Cassie said that Josh was being stubborn and tight-lipped about the situation. Finally, in a desperate attempt to see (and protect) Josh, Cassie suggested that she'd visit him via conjugal visits. Reva was confused, but Cassie said the answer was simple: She'd marry Josh!
