Ridge agonized over his behavior at the press conference. "You did the right thing," assured Stephanie but it didn't make him feel any better for throwing Nick to the wolves. Ridge headed over to Ashley's house with takeout from Café Russe. Her daughter Abby was there too and she showed Ridge a photo album of Genoa City relatives. After Abby scampered off to bed, her mother enjoyed a glass of wine with Ridge. When Ashley admitted she came to L.A. for a new start, Ridge assumed it was because of Victor Newman or Brad Carlton. Ashley flashed back to Rick, but said that neither man Ridge mentioned was the reason. Ridge and Ashley decided to stop talking and start smooching.

Nick was anxious to establish a timeline up to Shane's death with Phoebe. She confirmed that the last time she saw Shane was in her father's office at Forrester Originals. Phoebe explained how Shane creeped her out and she ordered him to leave. She assumed he left the building, but wasn't sure if he did or not. As Nick continued with his line of questioning, a shocked Phoebe asked if he thought Ridge had "something to do with Shane's murder." Phoebe insisted that Nick was wrong. "Your father doesn't like me," he pointed out. "He would let me hang."

Stephanie urged Taylor to end her marriage with Nick. A fed-up Taylor insisted that she was committed to her marriage 100 percent. Stephanie asked if Taylor was pregnant and she answered that she didn't know yet. "I hope for your sake, you aren't," said Steph. Taylor admitted that Nick believed Ridge was connected to Shane's death and was surprised by Stephanie's very agitated reaction.

After Ridge had left Ashley's house, Nick showed up and started asking her questions about the night Shane had died. "I think Shane McGrath was killed by Ridge Forrester," Nick declared.

"My mother had nothing to do with Shane's death," Ridge insisted to Nick, who then asked if Ridge killed Shane. Ridge dodged the question which further piqued Nick's curiosity. "Someone set me up and I'm looking at the two most obvious candidates," he growled. After Stephanie threatened to call the police, Nick left. She cautioned Ridge to hold it together and not let anything slip out. "Nick started this and we're going to end it," Steph declared. "As far as I'm concerned, he brought this on himself."

At Insomnia, Rick, Phoebe and Brooke discussed Nick's legal predicament. Despite Rick's protestations, Brooke left to visit Nick. Karaoke night wasn't going well, so C.J. asked Rick and Phoebe to sing "just one song." They declined, but C.J. got up and announced them anyway. Rick and Phoebe gave in and obliged, but didn't know C.J. videotaped their performance. Counting on publicity for Insomnia, C.J. Instructed an employee to "Upload our two little songbirds on the Net."

Nick went home to Taylor. Brooke showed up, but Nick had to take a call and left the ladies alone. Taylor revealed that she could be pregnant and started stressing out about Nick's fate. "It's all going to get straightened out," Brooke assured. Nick came back and told Taylor and Brooke that he suspected Ridge of killing Shane.

Eric decided to have a press conference regarding Nick's arrest. "We have to keep the press from sensationalizing this," he explained to Bridget, Felicia, Thorne and Ashley. Felicia pointed out that the reporters will still want a statement from Ridge and Eric agreed. He called Stephanie and ordered her to bring Ridge to Forrester Originals immediately. When the press conference began, Eric announced that they were "saddened" by Shane's death and take no pleasure in Nick's arrest. A reporter then asked Ridge if he believed his half brother committed murder. "The police have completed their investigation," Ridge hedged as flashbulbs popped. "Now we just have to trust the criminal justice system."

After a night in jail, Nick was anxious to hear if he made bail. Taylor showed up and told her hubby that she had three eggs successfully implanted, then happily produced a sonogram snapshot as evidence. Taylor was sure that Nick wouldn't be charged with anything but he surmised that someone framed him. Storm came in and announced, "You're free to go."

At Insomnia, Rick and Phoebe commiserated about Nick's situation. C.J. appeared and said he remembered when Ridge hurled some angry words at Shane one night at the coffeehouse. C.J. then asked if Phoebe and Rick would consider being a regular singing act in order to bring in the crowds. They said they would think about it. C.J. then requested that Phoebe and Rick sing now. Phoebe declined, then Taylor called with the news that Nick was out on bail.

"I can't let Nick go to prison for this, Mother," Ridge insisted to Stephanie, but she assured that won't happen to Marone. Ashley arrived and showed them the newspaper headline about Nick's arrest. "This must be so difficult for you," Ash sympathized, but as she continued to talk about the case, Ridge became rattled and dropped his coffee cup. "He doesn't deserve to go to prison for a crime he didn't commit," Ridge declared. Stephanie urged Ridge and Ashley to go for a drive and "find something good to talk about." After they left, Nick called Steph and and ordered her to stay put. "I hope you didn't waste your one phone call on me," she snarked and hung up on him. Nick came over anyway and accused Stephanie of having something to do with Shane's death. "I didn't shoot the boy," sniffed Steph and told Nick to go home to his wife, but he demanded to know who set him up.

"I did not shoot Shane McGrath," claimed Nick as he was led into the police station in handcuffs. Taylor showed up to lend support and gave her word to Lt. Baker that her husband was innocent. The cop informed Taylor that her word didn't mean too much to him (Oops. Remember Darla?). but Nick urged his wife to keep her in vitro appointment. After Taylor left, Storm warned Nick that there's physical evidence connecting him to Shane's death. Nick was then booked and fingerprinted, but Lt. Baker said he couldn't make bail until tomorrow morning.

"It's wrong, Mother," lamented Ridge to Stephanie. "I should be the one in custody and not Nick." Stephanie pointed out that Nick could still beat the charges. Ridge still felt guilty and wanted to come clean, but Stephanie told him not worry about "that son of a bitch" after everything he's done to the Forrester family. "Let him rot in prison," Steph fumed. "What goes around, comes around."

At the hospital, Bridget assured Taylor that Nick will soon be released. After the procedure was explained in very clinical detail to Taylor, the doctor who was going to perform the in vitro was called away and Bridget filled in. Nick called from the police station with the news that he had to spend the night in jail. "I'll see you tomorrow morning," he whispered and hung up. Bridget urged Taylor to hang in there. Meanwhile, Nick was led to his jail cell.

At the Forrester mansion, Lt. Baker said he was certain Shane's killer was among those gathered: Ridge, Taylor, Nick, Phoebe, Eric, Stephanie, Jackie and Storm. He pointed out that nearly all of them had a motive to off McGrath, but Nick and Ridge were under the most scrutiny because they were strong enough to move the corpse and both men had issued threats against the murder victim. As the cop reconstructed the night of the murder, he rattled off a scenario of how Nick might have done it. Ridge squirmed.

Over at Forrester Originals, Rick and Ashley engaged in a heated discussion over her interest in Ridge. Rick warned his ex-lover that there are no "happy endings" with Ridge, then rather cockily suggested that she was using Ridge as a ploy to get under his skin. Ash observed that it seemed to be working. Rick continued badmouthing Ridge, calling him a "shabby excuse for a man." A fed up Ashley accused Rick of sending mixed signals, pointing out that he was done with her, yet still behaves as if he wants her. Rick admitted that part of him wanted to make love to her all night, but she said she wasn't interested in having only a part of him, noting that if he wanted a full relationship, she'd be all for it. Ash concluded that he's too young for her, just like Phoebe is too young for him. Rick protested, but Ms. Abbott argued that Phoebe is 18 and that somebody had to be her first love and Rick was elected. She predicted that things won't work out. Ashley turned to leave, but Rick didn't want to end things on a sour note and planted a kiss on her. After a tender embrace, Ashley made her exit.

Bridget was pleased to find out that enough donor eggs were fertilized for Taylor to undergo in vitro. She phoned Taylor and excitedly summoned her and Nick to the hospital, but Taylor was held up at the mansion. After she ended her the call, Lt. Baker produced a monogrammed shirt found on the Shady Marlin II, Jackie gasped when she recognized it: It was a gift she'd bought for Nick — and it was stained with Shane's blood. Nick was placed under arrest. A floored Ridge exchanged a glance with Stephanie.
