All of Young's soap characters have been the scion of a prominent family. GH's Lucky Spencer is the son of supercouple Luke and Laura; ALL MY CHILDREN's JR was sired by the Pine Valley titan Adam Chandler; and as one of the B&B Forresters, Rick is a member of daytime's first family of fashion. The actor has received six Daytime Emmy nominations. In 2002, he won Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for his role as GH's Lucky.

In 2001, Young was named "Sexiest Soap Star" by People magazine, who dubbed him" "the daytime doppelgänger of Brad Pitt. " When asked in a 1998 Digest interview if he sees the resemblance, Young said, "Occasionally. I think I have a profile like his.” Judge for yourself with this 1999 shot.
Young and Christen Steward tied the knot May 13, 2007, at the Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park, NJ. They have three children: Luke, Molly and Grace and live in Utah.
