Born in Colorado, Patricia Elliott grew up as an only child and had a knack for entertaining at an early age. She briefly worked in the public relations office at Harvard University where she wound up performing in several of the school's theatrical productions. She later went on to study drama at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and became an acclaimed stage and television actress.

In 1973 Elliott made her debut on The Great White Way in the original production of A Little Night Music, for which she won a Tony Award. In 1977, she was nominated for Tony for her featured role in The Shadow Box. She also shared the stage with David Bowie in The Elephant Man.

In 1987, Elliott joined the OLTL cast as the sassy Madam (and Asa's ex), Renee, who married the Buchanan patriarch in 1988 during a double ceremony with Cord and Tina. She remains on the show as a recurring character.
