With all the sadness surrounding Colleen's storyline on YOUNG AND RESTLESS, it's been a relief to watch the much more lighthearted scenes featuring the Chancellors and the Bardwells. Gloria's desperate attempts to get money are always amusing, and her pairing up with Deacon to get the Terroni painting has added some life to a dull storyline. Also, Amber's attempts to
impersonate Gloria so she could get into the late Tom's safe deposit box
were hilarious; she definitely looked the part as she donned a big, black
hat and sunglasses.
Meanwhile, Kay and Murphy's barbecue was chock full of interesting
encounters: Nina tried to keep Chloe away from Chance, Chance gave Chloe a
really sweet gift for Cordelia (GCPD baby clothes — aww!), Kay told Jill
that she wanted to stop fighting with her — and then angered a broke Jill
when she reminded her that she owed her share of the property taxes. Later,
Kay finally followed Jill to the salon and learned of Jill's new job. The
reveal is sure to add a new dynamic to their always-complex relationship.
As great as Y&R is when it comes to drama, I always enjoy the scenes that
concentrate on family — and make me smile.

In the past few weeks, Y&R's Ashley, Adam and most recently Mary Jane, have all donned the purple gown that Sabrina was wearing on the night she died in a car accident. Granted, Ashley and MJ are both tall, thin women — as
Sabrina was — but it's still amazing that this dress managed to fit them
(and Adam!) perfectly. It's like Genoa City's own version of The Sisterhood
Of The Traveling Pants. One also has to wonder if this dress has been washed between wearings, otherwise, it's going to begin to smell like the dead.
Perhaps Adam has a dry cleaner to do his bidding the same way he does with
Dr. Taylor?

As great as YOUNG AND RESTLESS has been during the past few weeks, there's
one thing I really miss seeing: Katherine and Amber's friendship. Lately
they just haven't had many scenes together, which is a shame because Jeanne
Cooper (Kay) and Adrienne Frantz (Amber) work so well off of each other.
Furthermore, their absence in each other's lives just isn't making sense
when so much is going on. Kay is in the hospital from a stroke; surely Amber
would rush to visit Mrs. C. Meanwhile, Daniel is battling legal problems;
again, it's hard to believe that Amber wouldn't come to Kay for advice about
her beau. I realize that the characters are currently in storylines that
aren't overlapping, but just a scene or two — or even a phone call — would
keep their relationship intact.

Adam's gaslighting of Ashley on Y&R is creepy and riveting. However, I have one rather large issue with the storyline: I don't understand Adam's motivations for wanting to hurt Ashley. Ashley has been the one person in the Newman household who's constantly believed in him. It was Ash who persuaded Victor to help get Adam out of prison and go on house arrest; she was also the one who arranged for Heather to be allowed back on the Newman Ranch so Adam could be with his girlfriend. That said, why has she become Adam's prime target? Is it to hurt Victor? Jack? Both? Is Adam just plain psycho? Any of these reasons are believable, but I wish Y&R would give us a clearer picture for WHY Adam has concocted this scheme. Seeing what he's been doing and how it's affected everyone has been fascinating, but it would add to the storyline if we could get inside Adam's head a little bit more.
Naomi, many thanks for your awesome articles, blogs, etc.... in keeping up with Passions (especially as it winds down). Althought this is a few weeks late, on behalf of the many Shuis fans (who despite what the writers think are still out there), thanks a million for the wonderful trip down memory lane in the 5/20/08 issue. You're the best!
yes, I find it the Adam storyline riveting also, but its sad now that Ashley has lot her baby. And why would Adam pick on Ashley.
Naomi, thank you very much for your awesome articles, blogs, etc ... in pursuing passions (mostly because the winds down). Although a couple of weeks late, on behalf of the many fans sHUIS (despite what they think the writers are still out there), a million thanks for the wonderful trip down memory lane in the 5/20/08 issue. I am sooo sick of these story lines now on Y&R. I want them to come to a close. I want Adam to get his and I want Cane back in Lily, Jill and Katherine life. He is a very good man that only wanted a family.
I am so happy Natalia /Olivia story never got to fruitation, i wish the Noah/Luke story the same fate. If God had wanted same sex couples to be together he would have made another man from Adams rib,or made two Eves, and not said go forth and multiply ,Well, Enough on that subject
Re: the purple dress in the Y&R Adam storyline. I don't understand why the police didn't discover the blood stain on it and test it. I agree this storyline is creepy and we haven't been given enough insight as to why Adam is doing this other than getting back at Victor. I'll be glad when he's found out.
I know soaps are about drama, but I am a little tired of all the dark drama on Y&R of late. The only truly moving story right now is that of Lily. Christel is really doing an amazing job of the character. And I so enjoy watching Cane and Lily find their way back to each other. I would like to see Cane and Lily interact though with Kathrine and Jill, and Neil and Devon. Just my take. But I will be watching and waiting to see what is on the arise for my favorite couple and this incredible storyline going on now. Thanks.
I have stopped watching The Young & The Restless. Writers need to take note. SOO tired of all of the dark sides and Adam is just plain evil why is he still there. The last straw is switching the baby. You act like the viewers are stupid. Are we suppose to believe that Ashley thought she was still pregnant!!! The story line has been just awful lately....
Please kill the Adam, Ashley and Dr. Taylor story line. Our intelligence is being insulted.
