GUIDING LIGHT needs to call it a day on their special Wednesday episodes. It was a noble experiment, but the novelty has clearly worn off. Plus the pace on all the other plots seem to screech to a halt on each Hump Day as Springfield is suddenly sucked into this vacuum existence. I can understand devoting an entire hour to a single big event like a wedding, funeral or splashy party, but even then, the other stories are usually still swirling around the action. Narrowing the focus once a week on a couple of characters just yanks me out of the moment and compels me to check out the other soaps.
