GH's Logan (Josh Duhon)
— ABC
|
From Mala Bhattacharjee
Our intern Samantha and I have frequent chats about everything from the Emmy process to the tangled Logan family tree on B&B. This morning, we both found ourselves hopping mad about GENERAL HOSPITAL's portrayal of war veterans. You can check out my expanded thoughts in an upcoming Weekly issue (dated July 29), but suffice it to say, Lulu, Johnny and Maxie in the aftermath of Logan's senseless death sent our blood pressure skyrocketing. Did Maxie REALLY say that she didn't recognize the Logan she knew and that the nutjob in his place must have been how Logan was at war? WHAT? I know this is a show where the cops are stupid and the mobsters are heroes, but is it really necessary to imply the men defending our country are murderous lunatics? Oy. Of course, what do you expect from a show where a girl is too dumb to call 911 when she sees an assault in progress? It's three simple numbers, Lulu, and it probably would've kept Logan alive.

This is a fictional show were an alien once landed and became friends with a secret agent. If anyone is stupid enough to look at these stories as gospel or take anything seriously to heart is mentally ill. get a life. People can form opinions, and theories on thier own without the help of mr. guza or ms. phelleps.(sp?)
I AGREE. LULU IS SO STUPID.
It just seems some people are more sensitive about war veterans, due to the current state of the world. I don't really see how Maxie was out of line. When forced to kill people in war, it isn't unbelievable that they would find a different state of mind to live in...noting how much post-traumatic stress disorder is affecting returning troops. Some men have overbearing tempers, some don't. Just like some soapland war vets have overbearing tempers (Logan), and some don't (Coop). There's a lot of things wrong with GH, starting with the glorification of the mob (or preoccupation), but just indirectly pointing to the mental illness some war vets face isn't exactly old news. It's setting up good story. Did Lulu push him there? Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe he was going off the edge the whole time while working for Anthony. Not to mention Logan was also pushing counterfeit drugs. He wasn't exactly a war hero.
