Kate (Megan Ward) and Sonny (Maurice Benard)
— ABC
|
From Joe Diliberto
This is how casual the violence against women has become on GENERAL HOSPITAL: It's a punch line (no pun intended). Yesterday, Sonny told Kate that he walked away from an argument with Giselle or, as he referred to her, "that bitch," because, "I didn't want to bang her head against the table there — because I don't think that's a good thing to do that, right?" Uh, that, Sonny, would be an understatement. Two of my female colleagues were justifiably horrified (as was I), and we immediately exchanged the following e-mails:
Julie: Can we talk about the fact that Sonny just told his girlfriend he wanted to bang another woman's head against the table?
Joe: Hey, he said it was bad, right? — what more do you want? He did seem to be warning Kate that such treatment could be waiting in her future, didn't he?
Mala: Nothing says true love like a bullet to the head while she's in labor!
Who knows if Kate's future includes flying lead or fists of fury from Sonny, but it's a cinch that her present will include the threat of violence — but it should not come for her boyfriend! Looks like Sonny needs to stop drowning his lithium in booze before someone else he loves gets hurt — by him!

While I share your opinion of Sonny and his never-ending misogyny, I have to wonder if any of you has been disturbed by the repeated abuse of women by Jerry, and his constant manhandling of Alexis. I personally see nothing either charming or romantic about the way he treats her, and I hate the fact that the intelligent woman of whom I have been a fan since the first day she hit Port Charles has been dumbed down to the point where she not only willingly gets into bed with someone she KNOWS to be a complete sociopath, she overlooks his crimes almost to the point of excusing them. The Alexis Davis that I know and love would never, ever get involved with a man like Jerry. And the "she's attracted to 'bad boys' excuse doesn't cut it. Sonny, Jason, Ric, and Luke are all "bad boys." Jerry is just flat out evil, and after all the years of railing against the violence of Sonny and Jason's lives, it's not believable that Alexis would even look at him twice, unless it was at h
