Laurence Lau (Greg, AMC)
|
May 20, 2008
From Joe Diliberto
On his first day back in ALL MY CHILDREN's Pine Valley, Laurence Lau hit the ground running — and I don't just mean Greg dropping to his knees at Jenny's grave. Greg returned for the wedding of best bud Jesse, and Lau was asked to play a lot of emotional stuff right off the bat. As soon as he walked in the Hubbard door he was embraced by a tearful Angie, and embraced the born-again Jesse "like a dream come true." And in just the first of many nods to show history, Greg told Frankie, "I was there when you were born, man!" Of course, Jenny came up right away, courtesy of a photo album. And bravo to AMC for not shying away from the past. "Jenny and Greg had one of the greatest love stories this town has ever seen," Angie gushed. Then they all visited Jenny's grave. I never saw a moment of Jenny/Greg when they were originally on, but just hearing the way Jesse, Angie and Greg reminisced about her, I missed her. The flashbacks to key points in the Greg/Jenny romance were a wonderful tutorial, and a great reward for fans. Greg's hoarse voice as he recalled the first day they met, and fell in love... Wow, how pretty Kim Delaney was in the part. "I never stopped lovin' you," he sobbed. "And I never will." Citing Jesse's miraculous resurrection, Greg wished for "our own miracle." And why shouldn't he? After all, it's not like Jenny's body was recovered after that Jet Ski explosion. "I'll see you again, someday." Wishful thinking — or foreshadowing?

I started crying the minute Greg walked through the door and never stopped. Laurence Lau was amazing! The flashbacks were amazing. This is my all time favorite storyline on AMC, Jenny and Greg, and Angie and Jesse. I loved every minute of it. It felt like the AMC I fell in love with. Thank you to All My Children!
