Storm (William deVry)

When we at Digest first heard about Storm's "dramatic exit" from B&B, it almost seemed a bit too dramatic. He's going to shoot his sister (accidentally, of course) and then shoot himself so that she can have a heart? Uh, okay.... But then, he shot his sister and killed himself to give her his heart, and it worked. Burdened by his own demons, Storm had teetered way past the edge of reason, and as my colleague Elaine Flores pointed out, after his careless behavior nearly cost Katie her life, his suicide kinda made sense. After being berated by Brooke, he realized he'd backed himself into a corner by hurting the women he loved most. So via a clever and endearing series of flashbacks, a little smile came over portrayer William deVry's face as we saw Storm working out a solution. Meanwhile, Bridget, Donna and Brooke said their tearful good-byes to Katie, and just as Bridget suggested they find Storm before taking Katie off life-support, a gunshot broke their sobbing. The action shifted as Brooke hoofed it to an empty hospital room and found her brother lying limp on the floor (tastefully shown by Brooke's reaction and a shot of his hand clutching Katie's photo). The look on Katherine Kelly Lang's face said it all as Brooke gazed at the photo and her eyes shifted wildly back and forth to convey both horror and understanding at what her brother had done. The action was beautifully sequenced and even though we knew what tragedy lay ahead, it was utterly shocking. Well done, B&B!
