Cameron Mathison (Ryan)

From Mala Bhattacharjee
ALL MY CHILDREN's amnesiac Ryan has been increasingly on my nerves, what with his misty watercolor memories of his time with Kendall and his warm fuzzies to Greenlee, and then he officially rode my last one like his infamous motorbike. Watching Ryan and Annie explain to Emma that he had to move out for a while was brutal. Lucy Merriam's Emma is such a cutie and so earnest, so when she kissed Cameron Mathison to make Ryan's headache go away, it just brought home what a rough storyline this is to sit through. Come on, it involves a little kid. It's not just a love triangle (or a love square or whatever the geometry of Zach/Kendall/Ryan/Greenlee/Aidan/Annie is). Consequently, I'm on Team Annie all the way. I understand her fury and her pain and her desire to protect Emma from Ryan. And, okay, I keep hoping she's going to pop him one...hard enough to jar his memory.
How is anyone supposed to root for this guy when he constantly breaks little Emma's heart? This "great love" he has for Kendall and, by extension their son Spike, is such a slap in the face to that sweet little girl and to Annie, who thought she finally found a good man after that creep Terry. The way Ryan is emotionally scarring them is little better than what Terry did, and not worthy of the "hero" Ryan is supposed to be.
