From Mala Bhattacharjee
Like many of you, this past weekend I settled in to watch SOAPnet's ALL MY CHILDREN mini-marathon featuring Angie and Jesse. How could I not? Any time there's a chance to watch classic soaps and remember the good ol' days, I'm there. But I was really tempted to do an experiment in the name of science. I debated playing a drinking game and chugging soda every time SOAPnet ran their "The Real Greenlee" returns promo. Fortunately, I thought better of it, because I would have ended up in a diabetic coma. " />

IN OUR OPINION
January 14, 2008From Mala Bhattacharjee
I did enjoy all the '80s hair and wee, young Tad and Erica driving a race car and Jeremy before he got offed by the LOVING serial killer. Not to mention Angie and Jesse and adorable baby Frankie. And it's great that Rebecca Budig has returned. It's wonderful for her, wonderful for her fans. It's just a shame that said return has to be colored with such a painful campaign. The half hour "Back in Pine Valley: Greenlee, Angie and Jesse," special airing after both the Greenlee and Jesse/Angie marathons recapped Greenlee's history and acting like it ended when Budig left the role. It was as if Sabine Singh was never never there! Ouch. Rub it in much? And where, pray tell, are the "Jesse and Angie are back!" ads in the same vein? Darnell Williams and Debbi Morgan have about 50 years of soap cred' between the two of them, right? Pfft. By the way, in case you haven't heard? The Real Greenlee returns to ALL MY CHILDREN this Wednesday!
