MAY 23
John is arrested for drug trafficking and assault this week on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. He "gives Roman a quick martial-arts move to his jaw," explains Drake Hogestyn (John). Ouch. MAY 21
Crystle Stewart, Miss USA 2008, is coming to Salem. Look for Stewart on June 20 when she portrays an Alpha Chi Theta adviser to DAYS OF OUR LIVES's Chelsea (Rachel Melvin) and Morgan (Kristen Renton).

MAY 16
It's true: DAYS's Joseph Mascolo is out of Salem. "Stefano is still in a coma and that's where he will remain for now," a show spokesperson tells Soap Opera Digest. Needless to say, the actor who has played the DiMera patriarch for over 25 years is not pleased with this development. In a no-holds barred Digest interview he says, "I'm just so disappointed in them." For more on the story, check out the May 27 issue, which goes on sale Tuesday.

MAY 6
Daytime vet Roscoe Born (ex-Tom, Y&R; ex-Mitch, OLTL; ex-Robert, SANTA BARBARA and many others) has been cast as Dean Robbins on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Robbins will have a connection to a current Salem resident. His first airdate is May 29.

APRIL 18
John plays hard to date this week on DAYS OF OUR LIVES when he lets Marlena know about his rendezvous with Nicole. "He's right in Marlena's face. He knows he's working her," admits Drake Hogestyn (John). But is it a real date? Pick up the April 29 issue of Soap Opera Weekly to find out.

APRIL 9
As first reported in Soap Opera Digest, DAYS was looking to stunt-cast the role of Ava's father. The show has hired prime-time veteran actor Joe Penny as Martino Vitali. He first airs May 2.

APRIL 4
Though the John Marlena once loved is gone, John isn't giving up next week on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. "John feels something for Marlena he hasn't felt for anyone," Drake Hogestyn (John) tells Soap Opera Weekly. But does Marlena reciprocate? APRIL 3
Soap Opera Digest can confirm that online rumors claiming popular starlet Alexa Havins (ex-Babe, AMC) is in talks with DAYS are false. Word on the Web is that she would join the show as a NASCAR groupie ex of Max who gave birth to his love child. "Not true," says a DAYS rep.

APRIL 1
THE BIGGEST LOSER trainer Jillian Michaels sees host's Alison Sweeney's (Sami) day job when she guest stars on DAYS OF OUR LIVES April 22. Appropriately, Michaels' scenes take place at the Salem Health Club with Sami — wink, wink — E.J., Nicole and Maggie.

MARCH 21
Ava's attempt to hurt Steve doesn't go as plan when she kidnaps Hope this week, thinking she's Kayla. Hope plays along. "Little by little, Hope finds out how damaged Ava is," says Kristian Alfonso (Hope) says. For more on this most interesting hostage situation, pick up the April 1 issue of Weekly.

MARCH 20
Brandon Beemer (Shawn) and Martha Madison (Belle) will last air on DAYS on March 24, when their characters sail out of Salem. The actors speak out to Digest about their axings and final days. "It was like a smack across the face, like 'What just happened?' " admits Beemer of getting the news of his exit. "I'm sad," admits Madison. The duo attended a charity event in Hartford, CT this past weekend, where they got a chance to talk to the fans. After, Madison headed to New York. "This is my second trip to New York, hint, hint. I’m meeting with some of the shows out here. I'm hitting the regular, unemployed actor circuit," she told Digest. For more on this duo, check out the next issue of Digest.

MARCH 14
DAYS has finally recast the role of Mickey Horton. Kevin Dobson, who most recently appeared as B&B's Judge Devin Owens, but is best known as KNOTS LANDING's Mack McKenzie, will take over the role that was last played by John Ingle (Edward, GH) in 2006. He will first air in April.

MARCH 7
DAYS fans are up in arms over them being denied the long-awaited John/Marlena love scenes that Digest trumpeted on our 2/26 cover. The scenes, which Deidre Hall described as "explosive," never made it to the air. Get the story in the March 18 issue, which hits stands Tuesday.

FEBRUARY 29
Everything old is new again for fan fave Arianne Zucker. She has reconciled with hubby Kyle Lowder (Rick, B&B; ex-Brady, DAYS) and is reprising the role of DAYS's Nicole. Read the actress's revealing Digest interview in the March 11 issue.

FEBRUARY 15
Shawn Christian (ex-Mike, AS THE WORLD TURNS) has been cast as Dr. Daniel Jonas, the new doctor at Salem University Hospital. Sources say the actor began taping on Feb. 11. For more on Christian's career, pick up the latest issue of Soap Opera Weekly, on sale now.

FEBRUARY 8
Catch your last glance of DAYS's Bryan R. Dattilo as Lucas next week when the character gets sent to the big house. As Digest told you first, the actor will be off screen for a couple of months. But what of Lucas's mom Kate, whose fate in Salem is the hot topic of online rumors? Get the story in the February 19 Soap Opera Digest, which hits stands Tuesday.

February 8
Patsy Pease (Kimberly) will return to DAYS OF OUR LIVES for two episodes, beginning February 27. "My relationship with the fans is what has meant the most to me," the actress tells Digest. "When they write and tell me that it feels like there's a hole in the Brady family, then I want to come back. I am very protective of the loyal following I have. If they're feeling down about a storyline, I want to go in there and contribute something to make them feel happy. Their happiness means a great deal to me." For more, see the next issue.

FEBRUARY 4
Right before being called into Co-Executive Producer Ed Scott's office, DAYS's Martha Madison (Belle) joked to Brandon Beemer (Shawn), "Hope we're not getting fired." Unfortunately, that's what happened. Get the details on the dramatic meeting in the February 12 issue of Digest, which also includes an interview with Julie Pinson (Billie), who says of her own impending exit, "It wasn't unexpected."

FEBRUARY 1
Lauren Koslow (Kate, DAYS) is speaking out about those rumors that she's been fired. "Not only am I staying, but I've heard a little bit about a story that's coming up," the popular actress tells Weekly in the next issue. Hear what else Koslow had to say about the malicious gossip and her fans when it goes on sale Feb. 12 (cover date Feb. 19).

January 4
Yes, it's true! Drake Hogestyn will reappear on January 8 as DAYS OF OUR LIVES's iconic John Black. In an exclusive interview with Digest, the actor talks about the changes he's made in his time away from Salem and how he learned he'd be coming back. "I am putting a lot of trust out there. I love the show; it's what I do. I love the relationship I've had with the audience and that has really opened my eyes here in the last couple of months. A lot of people are still very emotionally attached to this show. There's a way to turn this show around. All we have to do is get it out there on the stage. We have to get it on the page." January 4
