1981
The result of an extramarital affair between Sybil Thorne and Dr. Cliff Warner, Bobby (played by Matthew MacNamara) is born in Cliff and wife Nina's living room. Despite Nina's pleading, Sybil refuses to give Nina and Cliff custody of the boy. Sybil is murdered and Cliff is accused of the crime. Sean Cudahy later confesses. Bobby moves into Cliff and Nina's home, and Nina adopts him.
1982-'87
His parents divorce several times, but Bobby is a happy child.
1988
Chris Mazura takes over as Bobby. Cliff and Nina divorce and Nina leaves town with her adopted son.
1995
Now played by Brian Gaskill (currently Oscar on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL), teen Bobby returns to town to live with his grandfather Palmer Cortlandt and his wife, Opal. At Pine Valley High School, Bobby attempts to seduce sweet Anita Santos, but his plans are aborted when Joe Martin's granddaughter Kelsey Jefferson comes to town posing as a runaway and reveals she is carrying Bobby's child. Unaware that Bobby is the baby's father, Anita suggests that her sister, Maria Santos Grey, and husband Edmund — who are struggling to have a child — adopt Kelsey's baby, Sam.
1996
Before the adoption can become final, Kelsey insists that Sam be returned to her. Bobby grows to genuinely care for Anita, but their romance ends when it comes out that he is Sam's father. Bobby agrees to marry Kelsey and hand over half of his sizable trust fund if Sam is returned to Edmund and Maria. Kelsey sees dollar signs and agrees to give up the baby. Palmer convinces Kelsey to annul the union, and Bobby is free to pursue Anita -- this time with the Santoses' blessing (they were won over when he allowed the Greys to adopt Sam). On New Year's Eve, Bobby and Anita announce their engagement.
1997-2003
Bobby and Anita graduate from high school and leave Pine Valley for Chicago with plans to attend college and wed. The couple reside in the Windy City, offcamera.
2004
Anita returns to town to be with her sister Maria during Edmund's health crisis. Bobby (now played by Christian Campbell) follows her, and it is revealed that the Warners' marriage has been strained by Bobby's extramarital affair. While trying to win back Anita, Bobby helps Erica Kane escape to Las Vegas, where he works at The Seasons casino.
