BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL Timeline

Branching Out

— By Devin Owens

Bill Spencer, Jr. may be relatively new on the B&B canvas but his two sisters and the dad he was named after are memorably part of the show's history. Here's a look back at the Spencer family tree.

Bill Spencer, Sr.

JIm Storm and Lauren Koslow
Bill (Jim Storm) had a short but turbulent marriage with Margo (Lauren Koslow).
— CBS

An original character when B&B debuted in 1987, Bill, a widower, was a publishing magnate who doted on his daughter, the virginal Caroline. However, the protective papa was dead set against her marrying Ridge, a known playboy. To stop the nups, Bill arranged for a photographer to capture Ridge in bed with a fashion model on the eve of his wedding. Just moments before the ceremony, Bill presented his daughter with the blue photos of her cheating groom. Although devastated, Caroline still walked down the aisle but fainted during the vows and was rushed to the hospital.

Despite his feelings for Ridge, Bill shared a civil relationship with Ridge's mother Stephanie. When Steph wanted Beth and Stephen Logan out of the way, Bill offered Stephen a can't-refuse job — in Paris.

After flipping over Donna Logan's nude layout, Bill ignored her request that the racy pics only be published in overseas magazines. Donna was mortified when her naked images appeared in the domestic men's mag, Temptation. Donna sought revenge by recruiting someone to take photos of a naked Bill in the locker room of his gym and running them in another Spencer publication called Stud.

Bill fell for Margo Lynley, proposed and she accepted. They wed, much to Caroline's chagrin, but the marriage eventually fell apart. Caroline died but Bill was overjoyed when her long-lost twin sister appeared.

After briefly dating Spectra secretary Darla Einstein, Bill eventually left L.A. to conduct his business elsewhere. He returned in 1999 to give Stephanie pills meant to induce miscarriages that she planned to give to a pregnant Morgan (Ridge stopped his mother).

After an unspecified illness, Bill died in 2009.

Caroline Spencer Forrester

Ronn Moss and Joanna Johnson
After one aborted try in 1987, Caroline (Joanna Johnson) and Ridge (Ronn Moss) finally got hitched three years later.
— CBS

Deeply in love with Ridge, Caroline was destroyed when she discovered his infidelity on their wedding day. Seeking independence from her dad, Caroline moved into her own apartment but was brutally raped. She responded to Thorne's compassion and support, then married him. Despite loving her career of running Eye On Fashion, Caroline was soon unhappy, as she pined away for his brother Ridge, who was now dating Brooke. Caroline split from Thorne and waged war with Brooke over Ridge. Caroline won out and tied the knot with Ridge in 1990. Marital bliss was brief, when, mere months after becoming Mrs. Forrester, Caroline was diagnosed with leukemia. After holding her own lavish farewell party, Caroline died in Ridge's arms that same night.

Karen Spencer

Peter Brown and Joanna Johnson
Caroline's twin sister Karen (Johnson) was brought back to her family as part of Blake's (Peter Brown) plot to win back Taylor.
— Jon McKee

Faith Roberts grew up in Starlight, TX, where she was working as a waitress. Taylor's ex-husband Blake showed up in the diner and was shocked by Faith's uncanny resemblance to Caroline. He later discovered that she was really Caroline's identical twin, Karen. Faith was shocked when her "mother" Bonnie confessed it was true and explained that her friends abducted Karen as a baby for a hefty ransom payoff. When Bonnie learned that her pals intended to kill the tot, she took off with Karen, renamed her Faith and hid out in Texas.

Upon finding out her true identity, Karen returned to L.A. with Blake, who had his own hidden agenda. He remade Karen in Caroline's golden image with the hope that she could steal Ridge away from Taylor.

Though Bill and Ridge were shocked by Karen's arrival (fingerprints taken from her crib long ago proved who she was), Ridge was still more interested in Taylor and Karen became smitten with Thorne. The feeling was mutual, but Thorne was still emotionally tied to his estranged wife Macy. The trio even moved in together while Thorne made up his mind, but Macy and Karen fought vigorously for his attention. Thorne ultimately chose Macy, but after a misunderstanding, he announced he wanted Karen. The relationship was short-lived when Thorne and Macy later reunited.

Karen then dated Connor Davis but after getting her drunk, they had sex without a condom. Determined to teach Connor a lesson, Karen lied that she was pregnant. She was then shocked when he stepped up and surprised her with a wedding. They exchanged vows, but once she admitted she wasn't expecting, the couple decided not to sign the marriage certificate. Karen left town and became a mover and shaker within her father's company, now called Spencer Communications. After his death, he bequeathed her 50 percent of the corporation to his daughter. The other half went to....

Bill Spencer, Jr.

Susan Flannery and Don Diamont
The ruthless Bill, Jr. (Don Diamont) found an ally-turned-enemy in Stephanie (Susan Flannery).
JPI

Bill, Jr.'s existence was a surprise to viewers as well as Stephanie. According to Bill's namesake, they were never close, even though Junior helped build the family business into a multimedia giant. For some unknown reason, Bill, Jr. is obsessed with taking over Forrester Creations and, while trying to bed Donna, almost succeeded with Stephanie's help. Steph changed her mind and Bill's hostile takeover failed, as did his sexual conquest of Donna. However, he is ready to capitalize on Forrester's weaknesses while finding himself attracted to Donna's little sister Katie.
