YOUNG AND RESTLESS Interviews
Staying In With Adrianne Leon— By Deanna Barnert If you want to party with THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS' Adrianne Leon (Colleen), bring your appetite and check your clubwear at the door. "I do dinner parties, game nights, anything to have a good time with the people that I love," Leon bubbles. "I like [staying in] because it's laid-back and chill. It's also fairly inexpensive to cook when you think about what you would have spent going out." Or, in Leon's case, when you think about the food that might have gone to waste if not for your guests. "My grandmother is Puerto Rican, so I don't know how to cook for less than 10 people," she confesses with a laugh. "I'm learning, but when I started cooking it was weeks' worth of food." As for what she will serve if you show up at the door, the Food Network junkie is still playing the field. "I like to make different things," she says. "I'm still at the stage where I'm experimenting and trying everything, and everything's exciting. Cooking to me is like therapy." Of course, every hostess has her disaster story. "Kirsten Storms was having a dinner party, and I was doing dessert," Leon sets up. "I figured I'd do fondue. It's easy. I make it all the time: fresh fruit, chocolate, brownies, all that stuff. Well, I bought a different kind of chocolate, she had this weird pot, and her stove didn't distribute heat evenly. The chocolate, for some reason, didn't melt. It became a rock! We put in a little bit of oil to try to save it. Then we made another batch. A couple of people there were sweet and tried to eat it, but it was horrible. I was like, 'You guys, I swear I make good fondue!'"
