Fan FrenzyY&R's 2003 Fan Club Luncheon— By Tom Stacy The Fan Social Hour began at 11 a.m., when attendees were greeted with gift tote bags full of goodies and got the opportunity to examine auction items. Fans were also invited to contribute questions for the Q&A section of the afternoon with the actors. Some auction items on the block were clothing from the show; samples from the Jabot product line, including baskets of hand cream, body mist, sunscreen, bubble bath, foot cream, massage oil and perfume; copies of the Genoa City Chronicle with its most notorious headlines; autographed photos and scripts; a copy of the wedding album Nikki received from Victor at their wedding last year; and even the "bloody" candlestick that was thought to have killed Isabella.
"These are the people who keep us in the No. 1 position," raved Anthony Peña (Miguel). "If they didn't watch the show, we wouldn't be here. They're fun to be around and I truly enjoy talking with them. These events are always fun. In fact, I met some folks from Israel. It's amazing who shows up and who watches the show. I learned from Jeanne Cooper [Katherine] a long time ago that these are the people who make YOUNG AND RESTLESS happen, so I want to spend as much time with them as possible."
John Castellanos (John) boasted, "This is 14 years I've been here with Y&R, and I've been to every fan event. I haven't missed one."
Brody Hutzler (Cody) is now also a fan event vet. "This is my second," he noted, stating that the theme of the day was "fun, frivolity and festiveness."
Tonya Lee Williams (Olivia, l., with Victoria Rowell, Drucilla) commented on Liv's ever-changing personal style by saying, "I still want to experiment with lots of looks. Maybe a couple months from now, I'll see another look I'll get really excited about and love. The show has been accommodating. I think the fans like it that we switch it up and bring this kind of excitement to the show."
Executive Producer David Shaughnessy was thrilled to attend the festivities, stating, "I've only done one event before because I'm usually on vacation with my family at this time of year. So, to be here today is a special treat."
Doug Davidson (Paul) missed his son's soccer game to attend the event, but he didn't want to let the fans down. He sneaked out to call his wife later and learned that his son's team had won the game. Moments later, Lauralee Bell (Christine) came out to share in the good news.
