Y&R: Who Am I?

Answers

  1. Judith Chapman
    Judith Chapman (Gloria)
    — CBS
I've been a California boy for years, although I was actually born in a much colder climate. I'm a totally devoted family man, but I do have two other loves: baseball and, I guess you could say, Harrison Ford. Who am I?
    1. Joshua Morrow (Nick) hails from ice-cold Alaska. The happily married father of three is a bona fide sports enthusiast. He collects baseball cards and cites his favorite team as the Milwaukee Brewers. Morrow is also an avid Star Wars fan, and his favorite character is Han Solo.
  2. I've had two prime-time Emmy nominations, and one was for a role that was almost second nature to me. I've had my share of daytime nominations, too, although I've never brought home the gold. Oh, and did I mention I had the privilege of sharing the big screen with one the most famed crooners of all time? Hint: He was a member of the Rat Pack. Who am I?
    1. Jeanne Cooper (Katherine) earned her first Emmy nomination in 1961 for an episode of Ben Casey. Her second came in 1987 for her guest-starring role as mother to real-life son, Corbin Bernsen, on L.A. Law. She's also garnered eight daytime nominations, dating back to 1989. Cooper also worked with Frank Sinatra in the movie Tony Rome.
  3. Truth be told, I once haunted Tom Selleck. Really. I also give new meaning to the words "daytime vet," having appeared on six soap operas during my long career. Yet, I once left the business behind me, moved out of Los Angeles, and delved into two completely different lines of work. One involves food; the other, stretching. Who am I?
    1. Back in 1981, Judith Chapman (Gloria) guest-starred on Magnum, P.I., playing a woman pretending be a ghost. Her haunting target: title character Tom Magnum. Chapman has also appeared on Ryan's Hope (as Charlotte Greer), General Hospital (as Ginny Blake), One Life to Live (as Sandra Montaigne), Days (as Anjelica Deveraux) and As the World Turns (as Natalie Bannon Hughes). Upon leaving Days, she sold her Los Angeles home, moved to Palm Springs, and took a 14-year sabbatical from Hollywood. While there she opened a restaurant, St. James, which has since been revamped into the Vineyard Tuscan Grill, and began teaching yoga.
  4. Way back when, I signed a deal with one of Hollywood's biggest studios. Can you guess which one? I've also rubbed elbows with an array of rock 'n' rollers in my day — not to mention Telly Savalas. Who am I?
    1. Jess Walton briefly dated one of the managers for Joni Mitchell and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and, during that time, hobnobbed with them and other famous musicians, such as Laura Nyro. In the 1970s, Walton signed with Universal Studios, which led to a guest-starring role on Kojak, on which she portrayed a high-priced call girl.
  5. I earned a Youth in Film award for work I performed in the early years of my career. I guess you could call it my acting "roots." I also worked with legendary director Ron Howard. Not as far back as his Opie Taylor years, but not as recent as his Oscar nod for A Beautiful Mind, either. Who am I?
    1. Kristoff St. John (Neil) had the distinction of playing a young Alex Haley in Roots: The Next GenerationS, a role for which he won the aforementioned award. He also made a small, but notable appearance on Happy Days (starring Howard as Richie) back in 1976, playing Booker Brown.
  6. "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV." Yup. I actually uttered those words in a TV commercial, although it was a long, long time ago. I once portrayed legendary daytime leading lady Deidre Hall's (Marlena, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) husband, although it wasn't on a soap. When I'm not working hard on the soap set, I like to relax tickling the old ivories at home. Who am I?
    1. Peter Bergman (Jack) parlayed his success as Dr. Cliff Warner on All My Children into a very successful Vicks Formula 44 cough syrup commercial back in 1986. In 1993, he starred opposite Hall in the made-for-TV-movie Woman on the Ledge. Bergman also enjoys playing the piano, which he began studying at the age of 20.
  7. Did you know I once dated Peter Fonda? Well, on the big screen, anyway. Meanwhile, I literally found love in the afternoon, twice, marrying two of my daytime co-stars. And although I didn't star in Mamma Mia, I do have a Mia connection. I have a Jack & Jill connection, too. Who am I?
    1. Amelia Heinle (Victoria) had a starring role in the 1999 Steven Soderbergh film The Limey as Peter Fonda's girlfriend. She was formerly married to her Loving co-star, Michael Weatherly, who played Cooper to her Steffi, and is currently wed for real to her Y&R hubby Thad Luckinbill (J.T.). Heinle also portrayed Mia on All My Children and starred as Jack in the pilot for the short-lived nighttime series, Jack & Jill. However, she was later replaced by Amanda Peet.
  8. Speaking of Mamma Mia, I'm fluent in Italian and love to cook. I'm also an avid hockey fan and have appeared as a hockey correspondent on Fox on occasion. I've done my share of prime time, too, including an Aaron Spelling series. Who am I?
    1. Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) speaks Italian, a byproduct of living in Italy for a year, and considers cooking one of her hobbies and passions. She has also appeared on Fox Sports Network's The Best Damn Sports Show, Period. Back in 1997 she starred as the tortured Joanna Hadley on the Spelling series PACIFIC PALISADES.
  9. I grew up some 3,000 miles away from Los Angeles, where I developed an allegiance to a New York sports team. Before joining Y&R I was "up a creek," so to speak, but in a good way. Oh, yes — I've spent some time on Capitol Hill. Who am I?
    1. Greg Rikaart (Kevin) was raised in Staten Island, N.Y., which may explain his devotion to the New York Mets. Pre-Y&R, he held down the recurring role of David on Dawson's Creek. Rikaart also interned for a congressman during a semester at Villanova University.
  10. If things had worked out differently, I could have been fiddling with numbers from 9 to 5 instead of emoting soap opera scripts. I also spent some time striking poses for a few well-known designers. That is, before I embraced my inner "beast." Who am I?
    1. Daniel Goddard (Cane) was majoring in finance when he decided to switch gears and pursue acting. He also spent time modeling for Calvin Klein and Dolce & Gabbana. He was cast as Dar in the internationally syndicated series BEASTMASTER, which was shot in Australia.
