Mark Wystrach (Fox) and Adrian Bellani (Miguel)
— Aaron Montgomery/JPI

It's A Party Line with PASSIONS's Adrian Bellani and Mark Wystrach

— By Lori Latusek

Adrian Bellani: What's up?
Soap Opera Digest: Hi. I wanted to talk to you about Nashville.
Bellani (sarcastically): It sucked. It was horrible.

Digest: I heard Mark was a hit.
Mark Wystrach: That was one of the highlights of my young life. They handed me the microphone as I was about to introduce Alison Sweeney [Sami, DAYS OF OUR LIVES]. They were like, "Wynonna Judd is running late. We need you to stretch this out and kill some time." From the moment they said that, I was like, "Hell, yeah!" I was loving it because I was already joking with my brother that I should grab the microphone and start singing instead of doing what I was instructed.

Bellani: See, that's what makes us different. If they would've done that to me, I would've been like, "Oh, no!"
Wystrach: I just went for it. I had the song all figured out. I was loving it. I was feeding off the crowd. I was like, "I don't know what else to do to kill some time but maybe sing a song. Do you guys want to sing a song?" And like 40,000 people yelled back, "Yeah!" So I busted into "Friends in Low Places," and before I knew it, there were 40-something thousand people singing with me. It was the biggest rush.

Digest: Did you have your guitar?
Wystrach: I did it all a cappella.
Bellani: He's a rock star.
Wystrach: It was a rush. Then everybody was talking to me about it the next day at the signing. I got to perform with a full band on Saturday in front of about 1,500 to 2,000 people. I sang a Johnny Cash song and a Waylon Jennings song. That was a dream come true to play with a real Nashville, professional band. These guys are really talented musicians. I learned a lot about performance and stuff. It was a great experience.

Digest: Which band?
Wystrach: It was the house band for the Wildhorse Saloon, which is a fun venue. Then we all got up on stage and sang with Montgomery Gentry, who are really cool guys.

Digest: Was that planned?
Wystrach: That was part of the show. We knew they were going to be playing with us.

Bellani (chiming in from the background): Do you have any questions for me?
Digest: You know Mark takes over the conversation [laughs]. Adrian, did you get to meet anybody exciting while you were there?
Bellani: You don't have to ask me anything.

Digest: We can give Mark a breather.
Bellani: You know what? I wanted to meet Carrie Underwood and a bunch of guys got to meet her and they forgot to call me.

Wystrach: Who did?
Bellani: Some PASSIONS people got to meet her. But I had a great time. The event was one of those times where you feel like you're a celebrity to these people. Granted, I had never signed an autograph before, so to sit there and have 200 people waiting in line dying to get your autograph and picture, it's a very surreal moment. To see these people get your autograph and your picture taken and the smile you put on their faces, it's fulfilling as actors to see these people get a kick out of seeing us in person.

Digest: Did you personalize the autographs?
Bellani: I tried to and after a while, Christie Clark [Carrie, DAYS] got on my butt and started saying, "Stop writing those monologues."
Wystrach: I wrote a personal note on every single one. I got writer's cramps in my hands. I did my signing with Emily Harper [Fancy] and we were laughing the whole time. Emily made a fan cry. The fan cried when she met Emily and then Emily started crying. I was touched by that.
Bellani: That also happened to me. Nobody cried because they met me, but I was sitting next to Heidi [Mueller, Kay] and Christie Clark and Bryan R. Dattilo [Lucas, DAYS]. To sit with Christie and Bryan, who have been on that show for like, half their lives, a lot of people came up to them and start crying.
