PASSIONS Features
PASSIONS - Who Said That?— By Deanna Barnert Weekly rounded up some of the random quotes we've heard at the PASSIONS set over the years. Try to guess which daytimer said what. You may think you know theses Harmony locals, but that doesn't mean they can't surprise you!
1. "I'm very dark-looking and, whether it's fans or people I meet, I guess people see me as not very approachable. A lot of people look at me and steer away. They think I'm cocky right off. That's a big
misconception and it's something I wish people didn't think of me, because I'm extremely laid back and easygoing. I love to talk and meet people and I'm cool, so if you ever see me on the street, come up to me." (2006)
2. "I love the fighting! I'm a tomboy at heart, so I enjoy anything
athletic. Lindsay (Hartley) and I like doing fights together. We have the same attitude toward it, we both enjoy it and neither one of us is hugely bigger than the other. We are cheap little tarts, and while I'm a little bigger than her, she's a little younger than me, so it's a good fight!" (2006)
3. "I look at decorating magazines of fabulously, professionally decorated houses. Then I look around my house and feel like I live in a cave and that something must be done. I gawk when I see how much it's going to cost and try to figure out a cheap way to do it with safety pins and gum. I'm going to make a Popsicle-stick hardwood floor. You wait: once they put that shiny polyurethane on it, everyone's going want one." (2004)
4. "The other day, a girl asked me where I was from. 'I'm from Peru.' 'Oh, Peru: I love Mexico!' I was like, 'Uh, I love Mexico, too.' Then I talked to her about my country, and at the end I made a joke and she said, "Oh, you Mexicans are so funny!" I was like, 'She didn't hear a word I said!' She just kept talking about Mexico. It was so funny, and my friends couldn't believe it." (2004)
5. "I do get stressed out when I try to do too much. I love to sit outside and read. My backyard will do, but I like going to the park by my house, which is up on this mountain and looks out on these rocks. It's like you're in the middle of nowhere. That really relaxes me. I can recharge off of that — and taking naps. I'm one of those people that loves a good, 15-20 minute nap. You can't take anything longer than an hour, because then you're ready to sleep more. I've got it down." (2005)
6. "I seem to have everything I want. I'm relatively healthy, I have enough material things and a bit of money, so I don't have to go out and be a waiter. I'm just watching to see how this show plays out. We're all hoping we're going to be around a lot longer. You never know, because it's business." (2006)
7. I have a lot of free time on my hands when I come home from work [and] I still don't know a lot of people, so I go hiking...with a big stick, because you guys have wolves out here! Sometimes I bring my friends, but they don't like to walk as far. I lose them by the half-mile point. (2004)
8. "The first scene I had with the baby was the first time I ever held an infant. I have no nieces, nephews or cousins. I stumbled on my lines, because I had this little live thing in my hands and didn't want to drop it. Sweat was pouring down, and the whole cast was laughing at me, because you know everyone over at PASSIONS is having babies and knows what's going on. They're like, 'It's so cute. He doesn't know what the hell he's doing.' I didn't. I'm still not a pro.” (2005)
9. "The interview process and getting the job was a whirlwind for me. I was in school studying to be behind the camera, not in front of it. It was serendipitous that I ended up here. That said, I didn't think I was going to have any sort of lasting power. I figured within six months I was probably going to get fired." (2005)
10. "I knew I was going to be shirtless, but I was hoping they were going to give me a couple of months to catch up. They threw me in the mix pretty hard! I figured they'd have realized by now that I need a couple months at the gym. I think they're trying to show it a couple times a week so people can watch the process of me getting back into shape." (2006)
11. "I refuse to date boys that look like him. I was like, 'He's going to be that cute guy who doesn't have a heart.' So we'd joke around and flirt and I'd say, 'You're not my type, dude. Get away from me.' (2003)
12. "I'd love to be on a sitcom, but in this industry, you're going to get pigeonholed. I don't know if I'll get to show my comedy, because how many guys who are known as "hunks" get the chance to be funny? That's tough." (2006)
13. “My favorite title is 'homemaker.' I'm a very domestic creature. I used to have a dinner party once a week with friends. I'd do a big, three-course dinner by myself and bake bread, but that was when I was an out-of-work actress. I don't have time for that now. I love to garden. I love going to a movie or the theater. That is my favorite date with my husband. I have other hobbies, but they're all sort of wifely.” (2001)
14. “The director was like, 'Wow, you guys don't shut up.' I was like, 'You know what, you're lucky that I'm only a recurring, because had I been on the show from day one, you would have never gotten one scene done!'" (2007)
Alumni Bonus: "I've got this whole ADD, hyperactive disorder going, so I'm pretty much fine the whole time. It's the people around me that are driven nuts."
