ONE LIFE TO LIVE Interview

— ABC

What's up, Doc?

— By Kathryn Walsh

When ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Troy MacIver was carted off to St. Ann's last August,Ty Treadway fans took it as a sign of hope: Since he wasn't being killed off maybe there was a chance he could return. Sure enough, several months later it was announced that Treadway would be back as the good/bad doc. Here Treadway — also a co-host of Soap Talk — fills us in on his new story, where he was when he got the news that OLTL wanted him back and his opinion on that other serial killer storyline.

Soap Opera Weekly: Welcome back.
Ty Treadway: Thank you. It's good to be back.

Weekly: Can you talk about your story?
Treadway: The story is still unfolding. I am not 100 percent sure what it is going to be. I am not even sure if they are sure 100 percent what it is going to be (laughs). Troy has been able to get passes to get out of the state prison.

Weekly: He gets passes?
Treadway: Yeah exactly!

Weekly: OK....
Treadway: Yeah, I have never heard of such a thing. At least that is what he claims. I don't know how legitimate that is yet.

Weekly: When your return was announced the Internet rumor was that Troy is the Music Box Killer.
Treadway: A bunch of fans flew out to Soap Talk this weekend and were all worried because they didn't want Troy to be the serial killer. I don't know. Usually the fans are right. That is where I always get my information.

Weekly: Is your return short-term or long-term?
Treadway: Short-term. Just for a couple of months. That will be plenty for now because the cross-country thing is always a grind. We will see how it goes. It has been fun being back and seeing everybody.

Weekly: You must have been pleased though to get the call to come back?
Treadway: I was actually on my honeymoon. I was out over in Italy with Monica. When I arrived back to the States on Thursday, they apparently were trying to get in touch with me. They needed an answer by the next night. I was like, "Wow, there is absolutely no time to think about it...great!" But, yeah, it ended up working out. It is always a pleasure to come back and play with everybody, see your old friends. I enjoy what Michael Malone and Josh Griffith have done, and Frank Valentini. But it has been a little dark. There has been a lot of death in Llanview lately. But I think that is personel changes behind-the-scenes working themselves out. Once all of that happens then I am sure they can back to a little bit more love and romance.

Weekly: DAYS is doing the same thing.
Treadway: I know. On one hand, I think it is terrible what they did to Suzanne Rogers (ex-Maggie), but on the other hand I was riveted to the TV set.
